You may already know that October is international walk to school month (IWALK). So we have teamed up with our friends at Kiddicare to promote IWALK and get you walking to school or nursery!
When the weather gets a bit chilly it’s very easy jump straight in the car, but did you know that the average school run can cost you around £400 a year? Not only that, but there has been a huge increase in congestion, pollution and even obesity, which is only going to continue rising if we don’t so something about it. Taking the opportunity to walk the kids to school or nursery will help improve this.
Ok, so it might not be suitable to walk everyday, it certainly isn’t for us, but why not set yourself a little challenge to walk to school at least once a week? Maybe you could even get yourself a money box and save the money it would of cost you in petrol that day, and see how much you save in a month?
I remember when I was little, we always walked to school. Very rarely did we go in the car. We lived fairly close, but it was still at least a 10 minute walk. I want to do the same with Jaxson.
To join in on IWALK Vicky and I decided to walk Lamb and Bear to nursery last week, with a little help from Kiddicare.
On our walked we used the Kiddicare Deko Plus Stroller, and I have to say I was really impressed! I’m a three wheel pram gal, so I wasn’t sure how I would get on with the four wheel stroller, plus its an umbrella fold, which again, I am not used to. However, I actually really enjoyed pushing this pram. It was super easy to put up and fold down (after a couple of practice runs), it has a decent size shopping basket, and a sturdy hood with a handy viewing window.
I absolutely love the design of the stroller. The colour scheme is totally to my taste. Ask my friends and they will tell you i’m a black/white/neon girl. So when the stroller arrived I was secretly jumping for joy at the thought of pushing round in the stylish colour scheme. The 5 point harness meant Lamb was securely fastened in while we were on our walk, plus if it did decide to rain (luckily for us the weather was lovely) the stroller came with a rain cover.
To me, one way of knowing how good a pram is, is if your little one falls asleep in it, and that’s exactly what Lamb did! He slept the whole way to nursery! This pram is suitable from newborn as it has the ability to lay back flat. To be honest, I think all prams should do this, as even a 1 year old needs to lay flat (ish) when sleeping. It was actually really nice to walk the kids to nursery. Vicky and I got a little fresh air and exercise and Lamb got a little nap before his busy day! The stroller was easy to push and I soon got used to the 4 wheels. I will definitely use this pram again.

*we were sent this stroller free of charge in exchange for our honest opinion and review

I’m not at this stage just yet – mine a re a bit young, however they start pre-school soon and I was wondering about walking/driving. It’ll take me a bit to get there but looks like a good idea! And thanks for sharing with #SundayStars this week. Jess x
That stroller looks really good for the money! We always walk to school – but this has something to do with neither of us driving and living about a 2 minute walk from the school!
Well done for getting involved. I always walked to school with my eldest and the little boy next door but have got worse at it since there has been 3 of them, people seem to drive so quickly and the pavements round us are very narrow. Must get better again though. Thanks for linking up to #sundaystars. Come and join us again next week.
