We have a hulk smashing, shield throwing, hammer bashing, super hero flying, Avengers obsessed little boy in our house. So it’s no surprise we have opted for a Avengers 3rd birthday party for him.
The party will be held at out local soft play area (we had his 1st birthday party here too) with approximately 12-14 friends invited.
Lamb is very opinionated (no idea where he gets that from 😉 ) and knows what he wants and has been telling me which of his friends will be dressing up as which Avenger. He has decided to be Captain America (which is a shame as I bought him an Iron Man costume for Christmas! – Typical).
I like to bake his birthday cake myself, it’s going to be a little tradition of mine. Even if it’s a bit messy the love and effort involved means more to me that it looking perfect.
I’ve been shopping around online to find all of the Avengers goodies for his birthday and thought I would share them with you in case you’re thinking about doing something similar.
Cake
Like I said I’ll be baking his cake myself. It will be a lemon drizzle cake and the recipe I use is from BBC Good Food. I have made this cake several times and it’s by far the best recipe I’ve used.
Last night I stumbled across these Marvel City Scene Edible Wafer Paper Cake Toppers on Amazon. Oh my god they are perfect! I don’t have to worry about icing perfectly, I can do rough butter icing and a bit of piping around the edge. I’m so glad I found this, it’s going to save me a lot of time! Plus they are only £3.89 – bargain!
I won’t be ordering these until closer to the time, but I think Lamb is going to be super excited with his Avengers cake.
I will also be baking cupcakes for his birthday party. His birthday falls on a Saturday so we have book his party on his actual birthday, which means we will most likely see a lot of people all day. As I’ll be sharing the cake with everyone at the party (and putting it in the party bags) I thought I’d make some cupcakes too.
Last night I also found these Marvel Super Hero Edible Cupcake Toppers. Another bargain at only £1.99! You get 12 in a set, but as they are so cheap I may buy 2 sets and bake lots of cakes. I’m going to pipe the cupcakes with coloured icing (green, red and blue) and then stick the topper on top. The chances are my selective eater will want a plain cake with no icing and he probably won’t eat the topper but I’m sure he will appreciate them!
Costume
Of course Lamb needs a Captain America Costume for his party. Luckily he has a 4 year old cousin that also loves super hero and he has grown out of his Captain America costume and will be letting Lamb borrow it for the party. We bought him a shield from Smyths a few weeks ago so we are all set! Maybe I’ll buy him a mask too.
I’ve just started handing out invites as it’s a month until Lambs birthday party and I need to confirm numbers with the venue 10 days before. What I’m really excited about this year is inviting a couple of children from Lambs nursery. He’s actually bonded with 2 kids in particular (one boy and one girl) and absolutely loves playing with them. He talks about the little girl all the time and tells me she’s his girlfriend! I love thats he’s making friends, he’s growing up so fast!
We bought these invites from eBay and they were only £2 for 20. They didn’t come with envelopes but that’s no big deal as you can pick up cheap ones from a discount store.
I haven’t found any yet, but I’m on the hunt for Avengers thank you cards – if you find any let me know!
Party Bags & Decorations
We have been sent an Avengers Party Pack to review from Party Bags & Supplies This includes 8x paper plates, 8x cups, 20x napkins, 1x table cover and 8x pre-filled party bags, and this retails at £28. If I’m honest, you could probably buy the party bags etc individually from somewhere and fill the bags yourself and possibly spend the same amount, but for me the convenience of being able to buy everything one go is ideal. It’s one less thing I need to worry about. I’ll add the delivery was super quick too. If I would give the company one suggestion it would be to increase the size of the party pack as most birthday parties have more than 8 children. I think increasing it to 10 for the same price would make it much more appealing to parents. I’ve had to buy extra bags etc to cater for the addition children.
I’ve also bought some green and blue paper decorations for the party along with some avengers balloons. I’ll probably use these in the house and the party as I like to decorate the living room for when he wakes up on his birthday.
We will of course be buying Lamb some Avengers toys for his birthday, but his main present is a new mid-sleeper cabin bed with storage underneath. He’s so excited about his new ‘big boy’ bed. He’s already using his new single duvet with an Avengers cover (I was trying to tempt him into sleeping in his own room as we are really struggling with co-sleeping at the mo!) It’s not working…
The bunk bed cost will be split between us and Lambs grandparents as it’s quite pricey, but we want him to have a couple of presents to open too. I’ll be sharing a toy wish list on the blog soon.

I’m rather partial to the Avengers and anything Marvel! I might have to pinch this idea for O’s 5th birthday… I don’t think he really wants a soft play party this year, so we might hire the village hall instead and play party games. Sure Lamb will love all your plans x
