We were very lucky to receive a Heinz Baby breakfast hamper last week, full of delicious goodness for the little’uns to try. Baby Bear is very much a Wheetabix girl in the morning. 1) It’s really easy for mummy to prepare, 2) it’s healthy 3) she loves it.
I’m also very conscious of what I feed baby bear. Alex will tell you I’m probably a bit too conscious… Since having baby bear I’m always looking at wholesome, healthy, simple dishes to feed the family. But, having a baby means you can’t always make stuff from scratch. Especially breakfast! What I do love about Heinz Baby is how easy it was to find out more about the nutritional information of their baby food. Being a marketing girl, I’m going to look at how consistent they are with their messages – and, I’m pleased to say, from website, to packaging. Everything is really clear and not misleading. So what did Lamb & Bear try?
- Strawberry, raspberry and blueberry muesli
- Apricot & peach muesli
- Breakfast biscotti
- Porridge pots
A little bit about the range…
The two new Heinz Muesli flavours contain 12 key vitamins and minerals that are an essential part of a baby’s growth and development, they also help your baby in their first stages of chewing. Available in 10 different flavours.
The Heinz Breakfast pots are a quick and easy way of providing your baby with a healthy breakfast. Eat pot contains calcium for strong bones and iron for healthy brain development, and are one of your baby’s five a day. Available in 3 yummy flavours. Creamy Oat Porridge, Banana and Apple Muesli and Verry Berry Porridge.
The Heinz Breakfast Biscotti’s are the perfect breakfast on the go. Each biscuits has added vitamins and minerals that are essential to your baby’s growth. Can be eaten on their own or mixed with your baby’s usual milk.
Jaxson is a fussy monkey and i’m is really struggling with his eating, so the Breakfast Biscotti’s went down a treat. He really likes the porridge, especially as the ones we received are fruity, but after a couple of mouthfuls he seems to get bored. To make sure he gets enough to eat in the morning, the Biscottis are a perfect solution.

What we both loved about the range we received, is no matter how relaxed (yeah right) or busy (that’s more like it) your morning is, there is something to cater for the day you’re having. If you’re having a pj Sunday you can take your time and make the yummy muesli oats from scratch, add some mashed banana maybe, or if you’re like us and are often running around trying to fit showering, changing, and breakfast into 15 minutes, then the pre made porridge pots are perfect. Or if, like us on a Thursday, you’re only half ready and already on your way to dropping the kids at nursery, then a trusty biscotti will do the trick.

Vicky is lucky, Baby Bear has an amazing appetite and is a very good eater, but for me, who has a fussy Little Lamb, I really worry about him getting the vitamins and nutrients he needs, when he eats so little. When I read up about the Heinz breakfast range I was so glad to read how much goodness is in their food. Variety is important in a baby’s diet, but I really struggle with Jaxson, especially with breakfast. I have found introducing the different flavours of Heinz Muesli (he likes every flavour) gives me the opportunity not only add variety, but to also add one of the five a day he needs. I was particularly impressed with how many key vitamins are in the Heinz Breakfast Biscotti’s. Lamb absolutely loves these. But I always worry i’m just giving him a ‘biscuit’. Now I’ve learned there are 8 key vitamins in easy biscotti, I won’t feel so bad when he munches 3 for breakfast!
As fans of the Heinz Baby food range already, we were really excited to try the new Heinz Breakfast range. We both agree Heinz have not only thought of the baby’s needs, but of us mums too. Knowing we can give our little ones a Heinz Porridge Pot or Breakfast Biscotti when we are in a rush, and they are still getting the good stuff they need, definitely gets a thumbs up from us.
