Summer Infant Babble Band Review

Earlier this year we were sent the Summer Infant Babble Band to review.

At first I wasn’t sure what to expect, it looked pretty simple. Yes, it’s simple, but that’s the beauty of it. It isn’t complicated to use, but does more than you expect. This baby monitor is one of my favourite products I’ve used with Bear.

The base unit is extremely lightweight and compact. Simply plug in and switch on and you’re good to go. What’s unique about the babble band is the watch style listening unit. You can leave your baby knowing you will always be able to know when they’re crying or awake.

There are 3 settings on the watch which is super useful. You can either set it to sound, light or vibrate. Personally I use the vibrate function. If you are wearing the device you will be able to feel the vibrations on your wrist. Perfect if you don’t want the screaming or crying to be heard.

Charging the listening unit is so easy. You lay it on top on the base unit and it charges the battery in the watch. How cool is that! No batteries required.

A few details about the Babble Band:

1. Soft silicone wristband that adjusts to fit both mum and dad.
2. 3 monitoring modes: audio and lights, sound lights only, and vibration and lights.
3. Baby unit audio transmitter doubles as recharging base for band.
4. Range up to 600 ft.
5. Rechargeable battery with up to 8-hours of continuous use.

As the charge on the watch only lasts 8 hours, for those of you who have babies in separate rooms this means the watch could run out of power in the night and the only way of charging is on the base unit, which is in the babies room.

This may not work for you, so think about if this is ok with you before buying. Personally we use this when we go on holiday or stay away for a night or two. It’s the perfect baby monitor for when we are at Grandmas and I stay in the same room as BB.

At the moment he’s still in his Snuzpod so I don’t need a baby monitor when I’m sleeping, so we can use this at home too. But once he’s in his own room, we will need to consider a different monitor.

To me that’s the only criticism I have of the Babble Band. Other than that I love the product. Both my husband and I can wear it comfortably and know one of us is always on stand by if the baby wakes.

It also gives me peace of mind if I leave the monitor with a family member or friend, they wont forget to carry it wherever they go, as it will be on their wrist!
