If everyone had an unlimited budget then we could all get married in one of the fantastically unique venues in London and the rest of the UK. But, unfortunately, money doesn’t grow on trees! Instead, we can admire those famous celebrities who have got money to burn and showed the UK how to get married in style.
Let’s take a look at four celebrity weddings that took place in the UK. Which venue was your favourite?
Prince William and Kate Middleton, Westminster Abbey
It wouldn’t be right to start this list with anyone else, would it? The wedding of the Royals took the year of 2011 by storm. In fact, it was watched live by millions all over the world. People tuned in to see the famous kiss, what Kate would be wearing, and whether Harry had a lady on his arm! But in terms of venues, it doesn’t get much more unique than Westminster Abbey. The gothic church is unique and beautiful in its own right and has a vast, intriguing and intricate history. Kate and William’s marriage was the 16th royal wedding to take place there. What was the first ever wedding? Well, that was King Henry I and Matilda of Scotland in the year of 1100!
Ashley Cole and Cheryl Tweedy, Wrotham Park
This may have been one of the celebrity engagements that ultimately went wrong, but the wedding day itself was by no means a disaster. The Chelsea footballer and the Girls Aloud star had their wedding blessing at Wrotham Park in Hertfordshire, just north of Greater London. They previously officially tied the knot in a civil ceremony at the luxury Sopwell House Hotel; however, there is no doubt that Wrotham Park was the main attraction. In fact, the occasion was such a massive event that the couple even tried to fool the paparazzi into thinking the wedding was taking place at Highclere Castle.
Kate Moss and Jamie Hince, Cotswolds
The fashion icon got married in 2011 at St. Peter’s Church in Cotswolds. As you may expect, Moss wore an absolutely gorgeous diamond-studded dress. And the celebrations weren’t too shabby either, think; a trapeze artist, transvestites, and Shirley Bassey on the microphone. But, to the beautiful ceremony itself; St. Peter’s Church is precious and quaint. It dates to the 12th century and is a truly stunning building.
Jade Jagger and Adrian Fillary, Aynhoe Park Hotel
Back to a relationship that is still going strong: Jade Jagger and DJ Adrian Fillary! They married at Aynhoe Park Hotel, which is situated in Oxfordshire. The hotel played host to their wedding in June of last year. Jade’s famous dad – Mick Jagger (lead singer of the Rolling Stones) performed at the ceremony, and insiders say it was lavish indeed. The 17th-century country house is luxurious and filled with grandeur – the perfect place for a celeb wedding!
Four of the best weddings that the UK has ever played host to. Which of these venues would you most of liked to have had/have for your venue?
