I still can’t believe my little cub has turned 1! I was in denial for so long that it seems to have flown by so quickly, but his 1st birthday was a huge success. We had a gathering at our house on the Saturday before and got out our amazing Little Tikes bouncy castle. My other half bought it second hand the week before and it’s honestly a really good buy. The kids LOVE it.
On his birthday we met up with friends at a local soft play and let the kids run (and crawl) wild.
I was finding it quite hard to think of what to buy him as we still have a lot of Lambs old toys etc. The obvious choice would be a SmarTrike, but we already have 2!
Bear was very lucky and got some amazing gifts from friends and family.
First up is his Little Tikes Spirallin Seas Water Playtable. We all know Bear is a huge fan of water and isn’t afraid of getting wet – (he’s been having swimming lessons since he was a few months old), so I suggested to his Grandparents they get him a water table for the garden. The weather is slowly getting warmer so we will be spending a lot of time in our little garden.
He’s used this table (with his big brother, of course) a couple of times already, and as predicted, he loves it. Even if he just drinks the water!
Bear has become a huge fan of Peppa Pig (it’s the only word he says!) We shopped around for suitable Peppa toys to buy him. To be honest most of them are recommended for ages 3+ years, but the ones we bought are fine for him with our supervision. This Peppa Pig Flip Phone is actually really good and Lamb ha loved playing with it too. It randomly starts ringing so you learn to answer, and also tells you to call difference characters by dealing a different number. Obviously Bear doesn’t understand any of this but he still loves pretending to call Peppa!
Another favourite is his Peppa Pig Push & Go Car. He loves pushing this around and his brother loves helping pull i back so it drives by itself.
Peppa Pig toys are actually really lovely quality so I’m sure we will buy him a few more when he’s older.
When Lamb was younger he had an Aquadoodle and loved it. In the end had to throw it away. Lamb left the pen on it for ages and the water stained the mat. We decided to buy a new one for Bear’s 1st birthday and of course HAD to get him the Peppa Pig Aquadoodle! We haven’t really dared give Bear any paint to get messy with. Which I feel awful about! But at least with an aqua doodle he has the opportunity to do some drawing without ruining the carpet!
Bear is obsessed with these Melissa & Doug wooden cookies. Lambs friend has them, and whenever we go to their house he gravitates toward the cookies. Although they are recommended for age 3+ years, they are fine for him to hold onto and play with; there’s no small parts.
Can you tell that Bear likes Peppa Pig? He’s obsessed. So I bought anything suitable I could find for a 1 year old. He loves water. Bathtime, swimming, paddling pool. Any water. So I had to buy him these Peppa Pig Bath Puzzles. He obviously can’t put the puzzles together yet (his brother helps him with this). But loves sticking them to the tiles, and taking them off again, and sticking them to the tiles gain, and taking them off again… you get the idea!
These are just a few of the presents he got for his birthday. Buying for a 1st birthday isn’t easy, especially when you already have a million toys form your first child! But we did ok and he loves what we bought him.
