As you all know BB arrived very early on the 9th of May, but I actually went into labour on the evening of the 8th which was when I was supposed to publish this pregnancy update (when I was exactly 39 weeks pregnant). I’ve been taking some time off to snuggle my newborn and completely forgot to publish this but thought as it’s written, you might want to read it anyway!

Well here I am, another pregnancy update, I made it to 39 weeks!
I had a midwife appointment on Friday where she confirmed he was very much engaged and ready to come out, and is a little confused why I’m still pregnant! Well, you know those irritating comments people like to say to heavily pregnant or overdue mums, I suppose you can say it to me now!
“He’ll come when he’s ready”. “You’ve obviously made a lovely home for him in there”.
God I want to punch people when they say this to me. I do still have a week until my due date, so I’m not too worried he’s not here yet, but knowing he’s fully engaged and could come at anytime just makes me want him here even more.
At the check up the midwife mentioned there was a little protein in my urine. Not sure what this means but she didn’t elaborate and wasn’t concerned. She also told me off because there was a strong reading saying I was running on empty, which was totally correct. That day I’d skipped breakfast and hadn’t eaten lunch until 2pm, and my midwife appointment was at 3:40, so my body hadn’t had time to digest the food and the reading was telling her I was low on fuel! Slap on the hand and told to go home and eat.
My blood pressure was perfect and my bump measured 38cm (I was 38+5) at the appointment so she was very happy.
I requested a sweep on my due date, so if baby isn’t here by 9am on Sunday 15th May, the midwife will be coming over to try get things going. I had a sweep when I was pregnant with Lamb at 40+1 and he was born 48 hours later. I totally believe the sweep worked in my first pregnancy so I’m happy to try it again. I’d much rather have a sweep and get things going then hope my body does it’s own thing and I go 2 weeks overdue.
Saturday night (around midnight) I actually lost my plug and spent all night awake with regular contractions… then by 6am today they had stopped. Damn you baby! I’ve been for a super long walk but still nothing.
Lets hope he arrives before his due date!
