I was recently challenged to create a maternity outfit with Bonpix. I was definitely up for the challenge, especially as I spend most of my days sitting in my pjs!
I do struggle with staying stylish during pregnancy. I have a very pear shaped figure so struggle to keep the weight off as my bump grows, which then has an affect on my confidence with dressing up.
This weekend I attended my friends wedding which was across 2 days, which meant 2 new maternity outfits. Boy was this difficult! I just looked horrible in everything I tried, but after trying on a million maternity dresses I finally found 2 that I was happy with (although I still think I looked like a whale đ )
Taking part in this challenge is certainly out of my comfort zone. Although I’ve worked in fashion for many years and have a love for styling (other people) I’m far from confident with dressing up and styling myself and have been known to have mild panic attacks before a night out with the girls! Crazy, I know.
I decided to go for an outfit that was both comfortable, but dressy. Something I could wear out to dinner with some fab accessories, but also something I could pop to the shops in.
The items I chose were a maternity v-neck tunic (long enough to cover my big bum) in maple red and maternity skinny jeans in dark denim.
I absolutely love my choices and feel confident wearing them, however I struggled with the sizing of the jeans. I ordered a size 14 as this is what I’m wearing (with room to grow) from other brands so knew they would be ok. Unfortunately when they arrived I couldn’t get them past my knees so had to swap for a size 16 (sad face), but I’m used to things like this happening with my huge hips and bum. When the new size arrived I managed to get them on, but I don’t have much room to grow, or should I say I can’t put any more weight on! So if you’re thinking of buying jeans from Bonprix, then make sure you go up a size, and order a couple to try on. There’s not a lot of stretch to pull up around your pregnant body. Having said that, once they are on they look great and are quite comfy. I also love the belly band part. These are the only maternity jeans that have an adjustable waist band meaning you can tighten the band to stay up around your bump. Really useful feature if you have a small waist like me.
The tunic top is really lovely. It’s so comfortable and super flattering. The colour is perfect for this time of year. We are still in winter shades but the red adds a bit of colour to my wardrobe as we approach spring. There is elastic under the bust which creates a lovely shape above your bump.
I teamed my outfit with my shaggy gilet which I bought from Matalan years ago. I find these really finish off a simple outfit and add a bit of texture. I also added my nude pink jersey scarf which I picked up for ÂŁ3 in Primark – bargain!
My boots are from Dune and were form my hubby for Christmas. These are probably the comfiest boots I’ve ever owned and so cosy! They are fleeced all the way through to the toes – lush!
I’m so happy with my Bonprix choices and would definitely recommend you check out Bonprix’s maternity range. Like I said, be careful with the jeans sizing, but the top is perfect for me (it’s a size 10-12).
What do you think of my outfit? I found taking the photos a bit cringe, but really glad I took part in the challenge and have documented my pregnancy look đ

I’ve never heard of Bonprox, but you look fab! Great choices x
I’ve only recently discovered Bon Prix when I was looking for maternity dresses online, and I was really impressed with what they offer, some really pretty dresses in their range. I love what you have chosen, the top is a lovely deep colour and you look great. Lucky you having a night out with the girls! I have yet to take any maternity style photos of myself, it is sooo out of my comfort zone, but feel I must have a go! xx
Love your choices! The jeans look super comfy. x
I love the gilet. Looks nice and cosy. Especially for the cold days. During my 2 pregnancies I only had about a handful of maternity clothes. I wore my normal clothes all the way?
Love the outfit choices and you look fab in the photo. Wish I’d thought about Bon Prix when I was looking for maternity clothes, they have a nice selection x
Aw you look great! I love that top! I’m still in my pregnancy jeans for comfort (Oh and pants). I can’t wait to see your little one!! x
Gorgeous outfit choice! You look great, and the colour really suits you! I’m not a mum, but I know it must be hardy to get stylish and comfortable maternity clothes x
Love this outfit. I love the colour of thetunic top and the jeans look fab. Jeans were definitely a pregnancy staple for me when pregnant with Blake.
Love this outfit – think you look fab! I’m starting to struggle with what clothes to wear – I went to a Christening at the weekend and felt totally devoid of any suitable wardrobe options. I’d definitely struggle with a wedding outfit! Love the gilet with this too – goes so well! Will definitely have a look at the Bon Prix range. Thanks! LPMx
You look lovely!! I love that top – it’s really nice and suits you. I found the Bonprix bottoms were rather a lot smaller than they were advertised to be. It’s just a number and you look gorgeous so don’t let it get to you! Xx
