I’m well known in my circle of friends for being a bit of a bargain hunter. When I was pregnant with Lamb I worked really close to a large Tesco so I would pop in on my lunch break and always come out with some sort of bargain from the clothing department. I ended up with way too much and he didn’t get to wear some of it.
When I was pregnant with BB I decided not to buy too much and only buy something if I knew I would regret not getting it when I got home. For BB it was more about quality than quantity, although I still don’t like to spend huge amounts.
Now I’ve clothed 2 babies I’ve got my favourite places to shop, so I thought I’d share with you where I love to buy my baby basics.
First up is H&M. I absolutely love their Conscious range, it’s such good value and really great quality. BB has a few of their vests and leggings in his wardrobe right now, and I’ll definitely be stocking up on a few more in bigger sizes. I’ve had a look at some of my favourite items online currently. I love their kimono style basic white vests. So easy to put on and take off, no pulling over the head, and personally I think they just look nicer.

Next up is Vertbaudet. Just like H&M they do amazing kimono style vests. Slightly more expensive but cuter designs, not as contemporary. I love their sleepsuits too. I do find their baby clothes come up small so make sure you buy up a size. They do gorgeous gift sets, so if there’s a new baby on the way in the family then I recommend Vertbaudet for a lovely gift.

A new brand I’ve been introduced to is Polarn O.Pyret. BB has one of their stripey sleepsuits and it’s amazing quality. I love their stripes eco range and recommend you pick up a couple of basics from here.
Mothercare has always been a favourite of mine for sleepsuits and vests. They last a little longer as they go up to a slightly heavier weight. At the moment BB is still in 0-3 months (he’s 13 weeks today) but I’m finding a couple of brands no longer fit him because he’s quite long. Mothercare sleepsuits however, go up to 14.5 lbs rather than 14 lbs so they still fit him. The arms and legs seem longer too.
They have 2 new collections out that i’m totally in love with. Monkey Business and Home Sweet Home. I want it all.

Supermarkets are fab for baby basics. They are super cheap and tend to be good quality. If you just want some plain white vests and sleepsuits for the early poo explosion days then I recommend you grab some form your local supermarket. Sainsburys is the closest to us and they often have 25% off days which means you can get a pack of white of 7 short sleeve vests for £4.50!

Where do you like to buy your baby basics?

H&M is one of my faves too – good quality, a bit quirky and amazing value for money! Not heard of the third brand you mention so will have to check that out! Xx
I like so many of these, Alex, and own precisely none! Why do I never think to shop at Vertbaudet? I’m heading over there to spend some pennies now…
Glad you like them! Take a look at the Zara sale too hun, I was looking earlier and they have some lovely girls t-shirts for as little as 99p!! xxx
