I don’t get to do it very often, but I really enjoy baking, especially cupcakes. I have a little obsession with butter icing… mmm… butter icing…
I was recently given the opportunity to review a selection of items from Cakemart, an amazing website offering everything you could possibly need for baking. If you love to bake, check them out, seriously you’ll be browsing their site for hours!
I’ve always wanted to be able to decorate cupcakes, so I took this opportunity to orders items to help me do so. I ordered a Wilton Cupcake Decorating Set that includes 4 nozzles and 8 piping bags. I knew this product would be fab; I borrowed a similar one from a friend and loved how easy it was to use. The bags are disposable, but if you really wanted to you could wash them out and reuse them, but that’s a bit time consuming.

The piping nozzles are super easy to use and create really lovely icing on your cupcakes. To the right is a picture showing you each of the piping techniques. I have yet to try the light blue one as I don’t thinks it looks as pretty as the others. Below I have shown you 2 of the piping techniques from the nozzles that I used, the yellow icing on the right is my personal favourite. As you only get 8 piping bags in the Wilton Decorating Set I grabbed myself an extra pack of single use piping bags for when they run out.
My one tip when using the piping bags and nozzles is to make sure the icing is really soft before you begin piping. You can do this by pushing and squeezing it around the bag first. This will ensure the icing will squeeze out evenly.
As well as my Wilton Decorating Set I also ordered a Dual Icing Bottle as I loved the idea of having multi-coloured icing on my cupcakes! Unfortunately this product wasn’t great. The idea is great; the product wasn’t. I just couldn’t squeeze the icing out!
I think I’ll stick to the traditional piping nozzles as the results were so much better and much less stressful!
Something I saw on CakeMart which I thought would be super useful for cupcake decorating, especially if you are doing lots for a birthday or some sort of occasion, is the Wilton Piping Bag Holder. Such a fab product to have to keep your kitchen that little bit more organised during a baking session! It holds six piping bags, and as you can see holds them up really well. The legs fold down so the product is flat and easy to store.
I’m really glad I was introduced to CakeMart. Their website is really pretty and super easy to navigate. You can buy everything you need for cooking and baking, and more! I can honestly say this is where I will be going for future baking purchases and definitely recommend them.
