Melissa & Doug has to be one of our favourite toy brands. We’ve been buying their products for years and have continued to buy them for BB.
With Christmas coming up I thought I’d write a gift guide dedicated to Melissa & Doug and share with you some of some of our favourite toys. I’ll also include what I’ve bought for the boys for Christmas.
Wooden food is always a great gift for any child. I’ll be buying some for both boys to play with. Although Bear is a little young, he can still hold the food and bang the pieces together etc. Lamb just started specialist food sessions, and at his first one he played with plastic fruit and veg. He’s had it before but never really played with it. He now seems really keen so we are going to buy some more for both boys to enjoy.
Another great toy that’s suitable for Lamb & Bear, is this Animal Puzzle with travel case. Lamb is obsessed with puzzles, and still loves the ones he had when he was 1. We’ve asked so many times if he will donate them to charity but they are the one thing he won’t let go of. And now Bear can play with them! I’ve bought this set for Bear for Christmas but I know Lamb will play with them too. The travel case makes them really easy to take on holiday with us.
Lambs bestie has this Lets Play House cleaning set and he loves it. Again, it’s for an older child but once Bear is walking he will also be able to enjoy them.
Role play is so popular with kids and I love how realistic this set is. It will make your little one think they are genuinely helping with the cleaning. It’s nice and compact and will easily tuck away in the corner of the kitchen or play room, or wherever you would keep it.
This retails at just over £20, which is a little pricey, but the quality is amazing and it will last for so long.
I can’t rave enough about the Melissa & Doug Reusable Sticker Pads. Who doesn’t have a kid that loves stickers? Well buy a reusable pad and you don’t have to buy multiple sticker books with stickers that end up on the carpet/walls/doors/clothes/socks/cat/baby.
There are plenty of designs (we have at least 3!)
Even though he’s not quite old enough, we’ve bought this Animal Rescue Shape Sorting Truck for Bear. Having an older sibling means he’s exposed to older toys and baby toys just don’t cut it! So hopefully he can enjoy holding the animals while his big brother shows him how to put them into the truck. I can see this becoming Lambs favourite toy…
Lamb played with a classic fishing game when we visited his Bambar (Grandma) last weekend and he absolutely loved it. I spotted this Catch & Count Fishing Game in my local garden centre (aren’t garden centres the best). He would definitely love this so I can see us adding it to his selection of Christmas gifts this year.
We all know how much kids love role play, and if I had a big enough house, I’d have so much stuff for them to play with. Like this Scoop and Stack Ice Cream set. We’ve now put Lambs Ikea kitchen in the garden as he doesnt really play with it anymore. It’s now a mud kitchen! But if we had lots of room I’d have a whole pretend house set up with kitchen, washing machine, cupboards, the works. Then I could but all the lovely wooden role play stuff like these ice creams.
Another all round great toy are shape puzzles like this Zoo Animals Sound Puzzle. Lamb actually has this at his Grandmas house (which she picked up from a charity shop I think – winning!) and really likes it. It’s great for teaching little ones about animals and the sound they make. Bear will love this too when he’s a little older.
Another toy I love from Melissa & Doug is their wooden stamp sets. These are perfect for introducing arts & crafts to toddlers without making too much mess. It’s also great for decorating cards or generally making loud noises while being creative!
Arts & crafts with minimal mess. That’s my kind of messy play! 😉
A wooden train set is such a good investment. Your child/children will play with it for years. Lamb got one from my dad for his first Christmas and still loves it now. He also has a set at his Grandmas house and whenever she sees additional pieces in the charity shop she buys them. He’s really building up quite a collection! If you’re buying a main present, this Deluxe Wooden Train Set is the perfect gift.
Every child wants a giant unicorn, right?

Go, go, go.
I could go on and on about Melissa & Doug products. Oh wait, I have. They’re fab.

Lovely post! I’ve never heard of this brand before but will definitely need to keep my eye out for them! There’s something about toy food that brings back so many childhood memories!
Oh wow, I have been searching high and low for a wooden cleaning set with a broom etc, how didn’t I find this?? I’m 100% going to grab that for Noah for Christmas as he loves ‘helping out’ and I just hate plastic
