Although Lamb is still 4 years old we haver been looking at Christmas gifts suitable for 5+ years, as his 5th birthday is in March.
He’s always been a little ahead of recommended ages on toys and by this age most things are suitable for him. And if they aren’t, we know him well enough to decide whether it’s something he could play with.
From a pretty young age he’s loved board games and puzzles. It’s crazy how easily he picks up rules etc with games recommended for much older than he is.
Give him a crayon though and he’s not bothered. He can’t really draw that much. He’s much better with numbers.
He’s also obsessed with figures and superheroes. And every single toy he’s ever got from happy meal…
This year hasn’t been as easy to buy for Lamb as he still very much payed with everything he got last year.
But here’s what we have bought him, or recommend for ages 5+.
One of the first things we got him is Beat The Flush*. Anyone else got a nearly 5 year old obsessed with any game that’s a bit gross? Toilets, snot, bugs. You name it, if it’s a little bit yuk he wants it. He saw this advertised and has been asking for it for weeks.
Another game he’s recently asked for is Bugs In The Kitchen. I haven’t actually bought him this as we are finished buying his gifts, but his 5th birthday is in March so we can get it for him then.
If you haven’t heard of Pie Face, then where have you been? We actually bought Pie Face Showdown for my dad’s birthday in October. It’s a great game for the whole family to get involved in. This would be a great gift for a 5 year old.
Lamb has been obsessed with his Avenger Potato Heads for years. In fact, anyone who comes to our house to play loves them, they are certainly well loved! When I spotted these Star Wars Potato Heads on Amazon I had to buy them. He is going to go crazy when he open this. I guarantee they will be opened and played with instantly! These are actually suitable fro age 2 and above, but I’ve put it in this gift guide as we have bought them for Lamb and I know any Star Wars or potato head loving 5 year old would appreciate them.
We are desperate to buy the boys a Kindle Fire Kids soon. They won’t be getting one for Christmas as we have spent up, but it’s certainly something we could make use of. Lamb loves online games and activities. Her’s such a little geek, I love it. And Bear, well Bear will only sit still when we are out if he can watch Peppa Pig or Ben & Holly on my phone. So we would absolutely get our moneys worth with one of these.
Bing Bong has to be one of my favourite Disney Pixar characters ever. He’s just so cute and funny! Lamb loves him too. I’ve just stumbled across this deal (for Amazon Prime members) which is such a good offer! Reduced from £29.99 to £9.40! And of course if you have Prime it will be here before Christmas.
We were kindly sent a selection of Awesome Little Green Men* from a PR to give to Lamb for Christmas. He hasn’t played with the before but I know he will really like them. He loves small figures and he loves little army men. Pretty much anything he can playing ‘fighting’ or ‘battles’ with.
Another set of figures Lamb is obsessed with is his Avengers Hero Mashers. We were send these Star Wars Hero Mashers from PoundToy.com* to add to his collection. All of the figures can be pulled apart and rearranged, so you can have a Stormtroopers head on Darth Vader body etc. Lamb plays with these for hours so I know he’s going to love expanding his collection.
Something we really considered buying Lamb for Christmas was a new bike. He enjoys scooting to school, but we feel he’s ready to learn to ride a bike now. He’s never shown that much interest but I suppose if he hasn’t got a bike, why would he? I know he would love one that’s related to a superhero in some way, and I think this Batman Bike is amazing. We’ve decided to wait and get him one for his birthday in a few months.
Another item Lamb keeps talking about (but isn’t actually on his Christmas list) is Monopoly. He knows how much IO love this game, but we’ve never played it together. We have Pay Day which is similar and a little easier to play and he loves it, so we picked this Monopoly Junior Kung Fu Panda from PoundToy.com* (which is only £8 on there!) to give him for Christmas. Another toy he’s going to LOVE.
Now this isn’t a gift for Lamb but I wanted to include it in this guide as it’s age appropriate. The Num Noms Nail Polish Maker*. We will be giving this to my niece as she is obsessed with Num Noms (which I know nothing about).
We’ve also bought her a few little sets and at the moment all of the Num Noms range is buy 1 get 1 free in Toys R Us, and some of the starter packs are half price! Honestly, if you have a Num Noms fan in your house get to Toys R Us (I was there yesterday!)
Now the L.O.L Surprise Doll is THE toy of the year and luckily for my niece she will be getting this giant one for Christmas! No idea how my sister-in-law managed to get one as they have been sold out everywhere for ages, but she did and my niece is going to be so excited!
You can also get the mini versions* which are easier to find and I have got one for each of my nieces as its al they talk about when I see them!
So there’s my Christmas gifts for over 5 years. There’s quite a range there so hopefully if you’re looking for some last minute ideas you will be a little inspired from this post!
