Choosing a car seat can be incredibly difficult. There are so many on the market. Since Bear was born we’ve been using the Kiddy Evoluna i-Size infant carrier and isofix base. The seat installs using the isofix base, has a generous sun hood to protect baby, and of course, their patented Kiddy lie-flat technology.
There are so many guidelines with car seats it can all become a little overwhelming. The one that worries me the most is long journeys in the car. The guidelines tell you not to travel for long period of time, so lots of stops are necessary when travelling long distances. The amazing lie-flat technology gives you peace of mind that your baby is laid in a safe and comfortable position. A much healthier way for your baby to travel.
Fitting the base is straight forward and once fitted correctly you will see 3 green spots. Then once the car seat is attached you will see a fourth spot to tell you it’s locked in place.
One the seat is in place I noticed it wobbles a little from side to side. Apparently it’s normal for seat to have a little side movement, but should be extremely sturdy from front to back, with no movement.
Personally I would recommend you getting the seat fitted with a specialist like Mothercare or Halfords to ensure you are fitting it correctly.
We brought Bear home from the hospital in our Kiddy seat and as you can see he’s cushioned really well. There is plenty of padding around the seat and I personally think it’s more cushioned than previous seats we’ve used.
The straps are really easily adjustable by pressing the button hidden at the front of the seat (near the strap). Push the button and pull the straps to make them bigger. Then tighten by pulling the strap at the front.
The memory foam padded head support can be removed as baby grows, and as you can see in the photo below, the head is still supported with padding at the sides.

We’ve been using the car seat for 6 months now so I’m going to share my pros and cons of the seat to make it easier for you to see what we loved, and what we would change.
Pros
- Being able to lay baby flat.
- Safer for longer journeys.
- Beautiful design and lots of colours to choose from.
- Can be attached to a number of prams using adapters.
- Huge sunshade.
- Removable and washable padding.
- Easy to install.
Cons
- Heavier than other infant seats.
- Handle needs to be in an upright position to remove the seat from the car. This makes a loud click and often wakes bear up if he’s asleep. Considering he rarely naps I hate it when this happens.
- The button for adjusting the strap is quite awkward to get to when the seat is installed. Even more so if you’re rushing and it’s dark. Not really a big deal, just something both my husband and I have found a little fiddly.

Overall I really love this car seat. Like with any product there will be things some people love and some people hate. I think the quality and design outweighs everything and the innovative lie-flat design makes this infant car seat a strong contender in the market.
I always recommend trying before you buy, especially with car seats and prams. If you’re looking for an infant carrier I would definitely consider popping to your local stockist and taking a look at the Kiddy range.
