A few weeks ago we were sent a Kinetik Non-Contact Thermometer to review. We have something similar, however it goes in the ear, so I was interested in reviewing this type of thermometer to compare.
My first impressions were really good. It’s small, compact and really simple to use. The instructions explain exactly how to use the thermometer and get a reading.
A little bit about the thermometer…
“The Kinetik Non-Contact Thermometer uses infra-red technology to take an accurate temperature within one second. This allows you to take the temperature of the whole family hygienically and discreetly and removes the need to disturb those who are sleeping. It has three modes which allow you to measure body, room and surface temperature displayed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit.”
- Non-contact, 1 second infra-red reading
- In built Fever alarm
- Suitable from birth
- 25 reading memory
It’s not always easy taking a baby or toddlers temperature, especially if they take a turn for the worst and need checking quickly. For a long time we used a standard thermometer strip, or one under the arm and it just takes so long to give a reading. They aren’t really good for emergency situations. The Kinetik Non-Contact Thermometer gave us an instant reading. You simply press the on button, place 2-5cm from the forehead (make sure the skin is free from hair or water), press the scan button and there’s your reading (on average between 1-2 seconds).
There’s always a risk of waking your little one in the night if you need to check their temperature. What makes the Kinetik unique is the non-contact element. As long as you are 2-5cm from the skin surface you will be able to safely (and quietly!) check your childs temperature.
My honest opinion is I would definitely recommend this product based on my first impressions and the last few weeks of using it. Not only does it read quickly but it’s small enough to carry around, which is great because now I can have one on me at all times, and keep the bigger ear thermometer for at home.
You never know when your little one may jump up in temperature, so it’s worth being prepared and having a decent thermometer.

We really love contactless thermometers. A great review!
Great review! I love that it’s non-contact, I bet it’s really handy to have and won’t wake the kids either x
We have a non-contact thermometer and love it! It doesn’t disturb the kids if they are sleeping, it’s easy to do and it doesn’t mean I have to keep forking out for ear covers 🙂 H x
Oh Alex I really like this! We had awful trouble couple weeks ago getting toddlers temp, this would have been so handy! Will keep an eye out for one 🙂
They ha e these in the Hosital i noticed when I had my daughter and she had to go into special care. I thought they looked like a brilliant idea!
This thermometer sounds pretty good. My little one hates having her temp taken and it takes forever to get the reading too, we have an under arm one. Do you know how much this retails at? X
Yes it’s £19.99 on Amazon at the moment. I completely forgot to put the price in the review. Oops! xx
