Father’s Day is around the corner ladies. Like, literally around the corner… in 4 days!
We’re going to be honest. It’s slipped our minds. Bad mummys.
Here come the excuses…
Starting back at work, holidays, poorly daddys, teething… It’s just taken over – and our usual organised selves have got a bit messy.
But, we’re getting pretty good at last minute prep. So if you find yourself in a similar situation, have no fear. Here are our tips.
Go homemade
Get the finger paints out. The weather is being kind at the moment, so set the kiddos up outside and let them get creative with a homemade card or poster. If you’re feeling creative yourself, make some bunting and plaster the house with the kids art pieces. All for daddy.
Get baking
Not only will daddy love this, but so will the kids. My favourite memory as a litte’un was baking cakes and scones with my mum. So why not bake daddy’s favourite cake. In fact, BBC Good Food have their very own Father’s Day section. The vanilla fudge looks particularly scrummy.
Catch the last post
If you’re quick, you can still order a little present. Daddy Bear and Daddy Lamb have a little obsession with meggings (leggings for men), they don’t wear them out of the house (we won’t let them) but apparently they’re super comfy and perfect for lazy evenings. They start from £10 on ASOS. Bargain.
And, you can always rely on Amazon for next delivery on almost anything you want.
No chores
Let the whole family take the day off (you don’t need to ask us twice!).
If you’re anything like us, weekends whizz by with dashing here and there doing the odd jobs, food shopping and chores.
Pick an activity that daddy loves doing with the kids and do that. Daddy Bear loves swimming with Baby Bear, Daddy Lamb loves playing football with Little Lamb. All cheap and convenient activities for us to arrange. And if we time things well, we might be able to slip in a little pub visit to treat daddy to a pint (and mummy to a gin and tonic).
In the past (pre baby bear), I was pretty high maintenance when it came to birthdays and similar occasions. Something I learnt since having a baby is, it’s quality time with the family that means the most.
(If daddy bear reads this, ignore the above comment, that wasn’t directed at you, I will always be high maintenance…)
Have an awesome father’s day everyone.
Love Lamb & Bear x
