We’re about half way through the summer holidays and with the weather being a little cooler, it’s time to crack open the arts and crafts cupboard to keep the kids occupied.
Not something I’m usually delighted about, however with our recent gift from Little Brian, art with the boys has become much less stressful!
We were kindly sent a selection of their Paint Sticks products to review, and we even have a tub to giveaway! Head over to our Facebook page to enter.
As I mentioned before I’m not the first person to suggest painting with the kids. Mainly because they lose their interest way too quickly. I spend time setting up the table with paints, palettes, brushes and paper. I let them mix a million colours (to my despair), cover endless amounts of paper, then suddenly declare they’re “finished!” after 15 minutes.
Oh the joy.
There are some kids that just love being creative. They spend a couple of hours enjoying making pieces of art, but my boys explode with colour for about 10 mins and move on to the next activity.
This is where Paint Sticks come to my rescue.
Just like a glue stick, the paint sticks twist up and down allowing you to use as little or a much paint as you require. The solid paint formula means not only do you not require brushes or water, but there’s very little MESS!
I know, I know, you’re sold right?
My favourite product we received is the Paint Sticks Bucket. Why? Because I can keep all of the sticks together in the tub and not lose them around the house! Honestly almost every room in our house has loose crayons/pens/pencils scattered around. I almost always just check them away when I find them, which means we end up with the most random selection hen the boys actually want to do some drawing!
Like other paint products you don’t need to let the paint dry, but due to the solid formula there’s no spillages or dripping. I suppose it’s like a soft crayon consistency.
Conveniently my eldest son had to draw a picture for his homework the week we received the paint sticks. So he decided to test them out and create a beach scene.
I’m so impressed with how easy they are to use. Both my 3 and 6 year old really enjoy using them, and I can relax knowing they’re not double dipping their paint brushes!
As well as the Paint Sticks Bucket, we also received a 24 set of classic colours and metallic colours. As you can see from the image above, Lamb used gold for the sand on his beach!
We also received the Paint Sticks Classic Art Station. My 3 year old in particularly enjoyed using this. The art station comes with 6 classic paint sticks and 6 chalk sticks. One side is used with paper, and the other is a blackboard which is perfect for the chalk sticks.
This would be the perfect product to start with if you’re looking to buy some Paint Sticks.
The art station also comes with little pots to hold the paint sticks, a duster for the black board and 10 sheets of paper to get you started. The perfect product to take on a holiday or to a friends house
A few things I love about the Paint Stick products is they obviously create very little mess. They’re easy for my 3 and 6 year olds to use, but more importantly they are made from recycled plastic.
I think you can tell form my review I’m a big fan of these products. Before receiving them to review I’d heard a lot about them and knew they were popular among families, and now I know why!
