Lamb has recently rediscovered Thomas & Friends. He loved it as a baby, went off it for a while and has suddenly found a love for it again. He’s actually found a love for all transport. So when he was sent the My First Thomas remote control train to review he was really excited.
The toy is easy to set up and perfect for little hands desperate to drive their own Thomas. The remote has 2 large buttons, one for forward and one for reverse/turn, making it really easy for them to use.
I will say that my 2 1/2 year old son, and my almost 4 year old nephew couldn’t get the hang of the reverse/turn button and just kept pressing the forward button until they crashed. It was difficult to explain that they had to use both buttons to manoeuvre, but this didn’t stop them loving the toy.
The Thomas train talks and makes sounds which is a lovely feature. He says things like “cinders and ashes!” and whistles and toots.
Although it is priced at around £20, which I think is a little steep this would make a perfect birthday or christmas gift for any toddler, girl or boy. It’s recommended for 18+ months, which is great as this is an age I struggled to find toys for, I was always stuck with things too babyish and things too complicated. However as I mentioned before, it’s not that easy to get the hang of so expect to be doing most of the controlling yourself for a while. The kids can sit back and enjoy mummy/daddy playing with they new toy 😉
