As a child, your birthday is the most special time of the year. It’s all about you, a chance to have loads of fun and make memories. And as parents we know that our kids only get so many childhood birthdays, a little later down the line they won’t want cute parties or time spent at home- they’ll want to be off with their friends doing more ‘grown up’ activities. So make the most of the time you have, and ensure your kids birthdays are always spectacular!
Choose an impressive cake
Kids birthday parties and cake go hand in hand, and we all have fond memories of our childhood birthdays of tucking into the sweet stuff. One way you can make the party stand out is by creating an incredible cake, something memorable and that will stand out in the children’s minds. Paying a professional can be expensive, so it’s well worth having a go yourself. Follow a tutorial from Pinterest and choose something that looks great but you can see is within your skill set. To ensure the finished product comes out tasting great, if you don’t bake often then take a shortcut and used boxed cake mix or even buy some plain sponges. From there you can cut and shape them, cover them with fondant and decorate however you’d like.
Go with a theme
Themes help to make birthdays extra fun and memorable. It could be anything from superheroes to princesses, a certain type of tv show, a book or something else entirely. From there you can tailor the decorations, activities and even the food to suit! Ask guests to come in fancy dress which is always a lot of fun for kids- or you could hire a face painter so that everyone can be part of the theme. If for example you were hosting an underwater theme, you could make ‘mermaid’ cupcakes with iridescent icing, blue balloons and streamers to give an under the sea appearance and have a face painter paint fish or sea creatures onto the kids faces. Look into photo booth hire or consider hiring a photographer to capture the best pictures of the day- and your creations!
Hire a bouncy castle
A bouncy castle is ultimate fun as a child, and can add a whole other level of excitement to a birthday party. You can hire them relatively cheaply for a day or an entire weekend, and you know that’s all your children’s guests will be talking about in school the next day! If you don’t want to have to come up with lots of games and activities to keep kids occupied at the party then a bouncy castle is a good choice as it will keep them busy all day. You could go a step further and set up a ball pit and/ or a paddling pool as well.
