Scented or fragrance-free hand sanitiser?
One questions that I’ve asked many times when trying to choose the right hand sanitiser. It comes down to personal preference but it’s important to consider. I’ve been using hand sanitiser for a long time and scented hand sanitisers have always been my favourite – they clean your hands and leave them smelling good, what else do you need?
I’ve you’ve been trying to find out the perfect hand sanitiser for your and your children to use while out and about, keep on reading. With the help of Ocean Free, hand sanitiser manufacturer, we’ve narrowed down the essential things you have to consider when purchasing hand sanitiser plus, if you should choose scented or fragrance-free.
Scent
Both scented and fragrance-free hand sanitiser are effective. As Chelsea Mamma mentions in this article, both sanitisers can kill up to 99.999% of bacteria, germs and viruses that might be on your hands, and thus, help you to stay healthy and reduce the spread of germs, bacteria and viruses to others.
As I mentioned before, choosing between fragrance-free and scented hand sanitiser comes down to personal preference. However, it’s important to note that if you have sensitive skin, Ocean Free recommend using fragrance-free hand sanitiser. For non-sensitive skin, Ocean Free manufactures a variety of scented hand sanitiser, including lemon zest hand sanitiser, sea breeze hand sanitiser and aloe vera hand sanitiser.
Alcohol percentage
Choosing the right percentage of hand sanitiser is of the utmost importance as, according to the CDC, “Many studies have found that sanitizers with an alcohol concentration between 60–95% are more effective at killing germs than those with a lower alcohol concentration or non-alcohol-based hand sanitizers.”

Liquid or gel
Whether you pick liquid hand sanitiser or hand sanitising gel has to do with your preference. Do you want hand sanitiser for spray dispensers or spray bottles? Go for liquid hand sanitiser? Do you want splash-free hand sanitiser? Go for hand sanitising gel.
Size
Do you want a portable hand sanitiser bottle? Or perhaps a large container of hand sanitiser to keep around the office or to keep replenishing your smaller bottles? This article on Life with Baby Kicks recommends small bottles of hand sanitiser of on-the-go hand sanitisation, “You might be out and about without any access to clean, running water and soap or you might be near public bathroom facilities but there is a long queue – hand sanitiser to the rescue!”
