Ten months old. That’s when Lamb became a fussy eater. He’s now 5 1/2 and he’s much better at eating. Although there are days when we get a glimpse of how he used to be.
He spent months, actually years surviving on ‘beige food’. And it pained me to watch him eat so little.
Was he going to grow properly? Would he generally feel ok? Would he be able to sleep through any hunger pains?
So many questions run through your mind when you have a fussy eater; it really is one of the hardest challenges motherhood has thrown at me.
We didn’t struggle with your typical ‘fussy eater’. You know the toddlers who suddenly decide they don’t like broccoli, or throw their cereal on the floor because you’ve put milk on it.
No, Lamb had a genuine fear of food.
If we went to an event where a meal was served, like a wedding, he would panic at the sight of his plate.
“Mummy, mummy, mummy!”
It really was heartbreaking to see.
As Lamb got older we were slowly able to pursued him to try things. His pre-school were incredible with him. We were eventually referred by our Health Visitor to see a specialist. She spent one on one time with Lamb showing him food needn’t be feared. He would play with plastic fruit. Read books with a focus on food. Create art with food.
Encouraging him to see the fun in food really helped with his anxiety around the subject.
This brings me on to what we’ve been getting up to this week.
Lamb loves taking a multivitamin each day (believe it or not he sees it as a treat?!) The fact he happily takes them gives me a little relief knowing he’s getting a little extra support to his diet.*
Bassetts Vitamins have sent us their newly released Omega-3 + Multivitamins Orange Flavour Pastilles (for 3-6 year olds). These multivitamins contain all the benefits of Bassetts Vitamins’ much loved multivitamins, but with added Omega-3 in a delicious orange flavour. Each vitamin contains Vitamin B6 to support normal psychological function and Vitamin B5 to help maintain and support mental performance to support a smart way to start the day.
I gave one to Lamb to try and asked him to draw a picture of what he thought of when he tasted the flavour of the vitamin.

Although he thinks his new vitamins taste delicious, Bassetts Vitamins don’t have any added sugar and are made with natural flavours and colours.
Having such a delicious vitamin makes it much easier for my fussy eater to enjoy it. He loves taking his vitamin so much, he never forgets to ask for it first thing in the morning!
Now, things aren’t perfect with Lambs eating so these Bassetts Vitamins are an easy and tasty way to get more essential Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin B5 and Vitamin B6 into his diet.
Whether you have a fussy eater or not, Omega-3 + Multivitamins are the ideal companion for supporting a 3-6 year old’s diet.

*Just a reminder that food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet!

My four can be fussy eaters too. It’s so frustrating, isn’t it? Love Bassetts Vitamins: that’s definitely something they always take with a smile on their faces!
These look brilliant! I think it’s important they have vitamins supplements. My partner only eats beige food and has issues with textures so I always worry it’s something Jasmine will develop.
These are a great idea. also nice that vitamins have been made child friendly and are not seen as a horrid medicine xx
I’ve been reading a lot about these vitamins on various blogs and I have to say, I’m convinced! My 5 year old isn’t great with fruit and veg so giving him a vitamin will definitely help me relax a little that he’s at least getting some goodness into him xx
Although our son has generally been a good water he does get his fussy days and is worrying whether he’s getting the right nutrients and vitamins. But something like these Bassetts vitamin are a help at least!
Oh no, that must have been so difficult for all of you with him having that reaction to food. Our daughter ate everything until she was 18 months old and now at 10 she is still really fussy. Twin 1 hoovers everything up, and twin 2 started really fussy and disliking the event of eating, then at 4 suddenly decided it was actually a rather nice past time….all three were weaned the same way!!
So painful to watch, but thankfully with support he’s much better. It’s crazy how you can do things the same and each kid is different! x
Love this post. I’ve actually been using these for my little boy and we love them. He can’t wait to take it in the morning. I definitely know what you mean about it giving you peace of mind.
My two year old decided she hated all food at around the same age. She one day decided she didn’t want to eat meat then soon after nothing at all apart from crisps! She’s slightly better at eating now but it’s sometimes a struggle to get her to eat full dinners x
So lovely to hear that these vitamins are seen as a treat to take. Mine loves them too
