What lamb Wore 11.09.15

Welcome  to another addition of What Lamb Wore. I’ve missed a couple of weeks, but I’m back with a fab outfit.

Lambs outfit consists of:

  • Car print sweatshirt from H&M which was £5.99 and is in size 2-4 years.
  • Zebra print joggers from H&M which were probably around £5.99 and are in size 18-24 months.
  • Dinosaur print T-shirt which was around £4.99 and is size 2-3 years.
  • Leopard print trainers from River Island which were £14 and are a toddler size 6 but are definitely a 7, so River Island sizing is a bit off.

Lamb’s NEXT Wardrobe Wish List

With winter well and truly here (apart from yesterday which was lovely and sunny!) I thought it was time to take a look at Lambs wardrobe and put together a wish list of what I would like to add to it. To be honest, he has plenty of clothes, and has a decent amount suitable for winter, but he’s had them for ages, and I get bored easily!

I’ve browsed online and Next has a really good AW15 collection and some things I definitely want for Lamb, especially a winter coat and wellies.

With Christmas around the corner I may buy a few things in age 3-4 years, and put them away ready for next winter. Yes, I’m that organised.

Lamb looks great in red and neon yellow so I love having these colours in his wardrobe all year round. Of course, we can’t resist anything with Mickey Mouse on!

Five Minutes Peace

Who’s heard of the children book Five Minutes’ Peace? You know the one, the mummy elephant just can’t get 5 minutes peace from her 3 kids. Well, that’s what it feels like for me too.

The other night I gave myself a little treat and run the bath (something I rarely do anymore, showers are all I have time for). The hubby was home, Lamb was happy playing downstairs, so I used the opportunity to have ‘5 minutes peace’.

Or so I thought.

About 2 minutes after getting into the bath (in fact it was still running while I was sat in it), I hear footsteps in the hallway and muffled voices. Hmmm… maybe Lamb wants to use the toilet? That’s totally possible as he prefers the toilet to the potty.

No.

Who can guess what was about to happen?

Yep, you got it. Lamb wanted to get into the bath with mummy. And what’s worse, Daddy was allowing him to!

I couldn’t believe it. My one and only bath I’ve had in ages. When I say ages, I mean about 2 months! Since we had out new bathroom fitted that was the second time I’d used our new bath!

I’m suddenly being surrounded by toys, and I’m not talking about cute bath toys. Oh no, we are past that age now. Lamb wants ALL of his toys in the bath. You name it, he wants it.

So tonight I had the pleasure of playing with his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse figurines (absolutely not made for the bath), his red race car, his teapot from his kitchen, his Fireman Sam helicopter (which isn’t small) and a few other bits.

I looked at my husband and said “is this really happening? I can’t get 5 minutes peace?”

It was at this point I giggled to myself, realising I sounded a lot like one of my favourite childhood books. When I was younger I found the book funny, but from the childs perspective. Now, I’m totally on mummy elephants wavelength.

But, you know what? I got over it. Lamb was happy and loving bath time with mummy (something we rarely do).

It reminded me of bathing with him as a baby (which we did a lot), and made me realise he’s still my baby and always will be.

So what if he wants to bath with me, drive his race car up and down my leg and pour ‘tea’ on my head?

Life could be seriously worse, couldn’t it.

Travelling on the tube I aimlessly reach over for a spare Metro on the empty seat beside me. It’s been folded the wrong way and a bit all over the place, so it takes me a moment to find the front page.

I wish I hadn’t.

Without reading the title or description I know exactly what I’m looking at, and I am hit deep in the pit of my stomach with an ache only a mother (or father) can feel. The feeling of losing a child.

A three year old boy was found dead on a beach in Turkey. His 5 year old brother also found. Washed up.

Need I say more?

I genuinely held back tears to avoid being stared at; yet all I wanted to do was cry and mourn for the loss of these boys. They were 5 and 3. Lamb will turn 3 in March. My boy. The same age as these poor children being dragged across land and sea in the hope of finding safety and a better life.

Do we judge these parents for causing their children harm? Or do we praise them for having more courage than any one of us will ever have?

I don’t watch the news much. I’m always being told I should be, but I just can’t deal with the sadness and devastation around us. I am shocked at our world; so advanced yet so destructive.

Year 2015 and it’s just getting worse. When will things change? Well they can. With your help.
