So, I’m back at work, and if i’m honest, I’m pretty OK with that. I miss my little lamb more than you know, but the Cheshire cat grin I see every time I get home makes it all worth it. I strongly believe daddys become the favourite because they come and go (to work) and miss a lot of the stressful times. Which in my case, is currently weaning (won’t go into it now, but there will be plenty of posts on my struggles with Jaxson and food).
I studied for 6 years to get my job, so I was never going to be a stay-at-home mum, it’s just not me. I’m happier when i’m busy, and i’m even happier when i’m playing the role of ‘fabulous’ fashion designer mum (maybe not so fabulous with these bags under my eyes).
With Statuary Maternity Pay (SMP) and the added holiday entitlement for the year I was able to take 10 1/2 months of maternity leave. I started back part time at the beginning of this year (sad face). That sounds like a lot of time off work, but trust me, the time goes ridiculously quickly and I can’t stress that enough. Before we know it, Vicky will also be back at work and our regular trips to Costa and Sainsbury’s will be no more (sad face again).
So now my life consists of nappies, baby food, designing and spreadsheets, and lots and lots of coffee.
Look out for my top tips on looking presentable when you’re struggling to keep baby sick out of your hair (I have a few tricks up my sleeve!)
