I never imagined hearing the words “you’re looking well” in the first few weeks after going through labour, but believe me, I did. And here’s my secret… Good make-up and eyelash extensions!
About a week before my due date I had eyelash extensions. They usually last around 2-3 weeks, but if you’re careful they can last over a month.
With my ‘English rose’ skin and blonde hair, I try to avoid wearing no make-up in public – it’s really not a good look for me. My eyelashes are very fair, so investing (I say investing because they aren’t cheap) in eyelash extensions is something I like to do every now and then. I didn’t have to worry about how I looked as the eyelashes opened up my eyes and gave me a little boost of confidence. I even got a comment from my midwife about how nice they looked. Success!
If you don’t want to spend a lot on extensions, you can always try some temporary lashes first. For a quick fix, I recommend these… Eylure Naturalite Strip Lashes No. 020 (Natural Volume)
My second beauty tip for looking well during/after labour is a great foundation. Personally I use Estee Lauder Double Wear. This is a very intense foundation, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but for me it gave me great coverage that lasted. Again, this isn’t cheap, but one bottle lasts me around 6 months.
Alternatively, if you don’t want a foundation too heavy, they also offer a lighter version, with the added bonus of having SPF 10. You can buy it here.
So, if you want someone to say “wow, you look so well”, why not try my top tip of today!
