After visiting and loving Crafty Mums in Colchester, we wanted to get in touch with Kate, the founder and bombard her with lots of questions. (As you do when you meet an inspiring person).
Crafty Mums was born in 2013 when Kate decided to open a gift shop offering local designers the chance to rent space at an affordable price to showcase their products. Not only this, she wanted to offer regular craft workshops, from sewing to glass making, and free classes to those suffering from PND.
Kate inspired us because of her commitment to raising awareness about breastfeeding and postnatal depression. Crafty Mums offers a private feeding and changing room for those who may need it when in Colchester. You can read more about this here.
Kate is super lovely, and was keen to answer our questions. So, let me introduce you to Kate from Crafty Mums…
I will always have a part of me that feels sad about the time I lost with my eldest for the first 9 months of his life, and it took me a while to be able to look at those first images of us together. But I am able to now, and also I am grateful for what PND taught me about myself, I am stronger, I am more focused on the good, and the things I have to be thankful for. I also know myself a lot better.
