A few weeks ago I was sent some of the brand new Wyke butter to try as they have recently rebranded.
Wyke have been family farming in the heart of the Somerset for over 150 years, and making award-winning cheddar to their Grandmother Ivy’s secret recipe for generations.
Their goal is to create a sustainable working farm, harnessing their natural resources to source elctricity and gas from both solar and biogas, generated from farm and dairy waste.
Wyke are proud to say their award winning cheese and butter are 100% green in terms of energy.
The new packs of butter uses imagery of Wyke Farms’ unique family and farming heritage and communicates how their butter has been crafted over generations of the Clothier family in the heart of Somerset. The images include heritage illustrations of Prince the farm horse, Somerset compass and the iconic oak tree that sits on top of the hill outside the dairy at Wyke Champflower.

Obviously Wyke butter is perfect for baking and those who know me, know I love to bake birthday cakes and cupcakes. So far I have baked Lambs birthday cake every year, and plan to do the same with BB. It’s my way of making their cakes that little bit extra special (although I’m not sure Mary Berry would agree 😉 )
There are plenty of ways you could use Wyke butter, other than baking. Of course delicious cupcakes with lashings of butter icing would be my first choice, but how about crumpets for breakfast, or warm croissants or crusty bread with butter and jam? You could be a little indulgent and cook your scrambled egg with butter, or enjoy an oven baked jacket potato with lots of butter and cheese.

There’s something about using ‘real’ butter that makes food so much tastier, personally I love it simply on toast in the morning.
Do you like to bake? I’d love to see photos of your creations.
