Dear Costa, let me introduce myself.
My name is Alex and I’m a mother to 2 beautiful boys.
I’d like to describe myself as a new mum, but Bear (my second son) is 8 months old now, so he’s certainly not new. In fact we’re well into the milestones and I’d put money on him taking his first steps by 10 months.
I’ve also got a 3, soon to be 4, year old, who I refer to as Lamb. He’s a sensitive soul and I rely on him for snuggles.
I’m writing to you because I think it’s time you knew just how important you are to my life. I’m sure you don’t realise how much I need you, I mean, really need you. Especially in the form of a drive-thru.
You’ve probably come across plenty of mums before, you seem to be a popular venue for mothers meetings or ladies lunches. But to me you’re more than just a place to meet like minded friends.
You’re a shoulder to cry on when I’m feeling sad, a familiar face when I’m feeling lonely.
You’re a babysitter when I need to answer emails, a pat on the back when my day has been tough.
You see, you’re always there for me, and I’m so grateful for that.
When I’ve got a sleeping baby and my tummy is rumbling, you’re there to offer me lunch without waking him up.
When I’ve had 2 hours sleep in 48 hours and have run out of milk. There you are ready to provide me with my well deserved caffeine fix.
When I can think of absolutely nothing but eating crap, you hold out your hand and offer me cake.
Having you so close by, in fact perfectly placed between my house and Lambs preschool, makes my life that little bit easier.
What am I saying? A hell of a lot easier!
Without you I would have gone many a day without eating lunch, and worst still, without a coffee.
Ok Costa, so you’re not the quickest drive-thru in the world. It seems you’re a favourite in my area. There was even a time you were closed and turned me away. (We all have those days where we just don’t want to see anyone. I’ve been there, so I forgive you).
But don’t let it happen again.
I did worry about how much I rely on you. But if all it takes is a quick visit to your drive-thru to provide me with a little pick-me-up then there’s no harm in that is there?
My bank balance doesn’t agree however. I should probably get a job if I want to carry on hanging out with you.
Anyway, for the past 8 months you’ve allowed me to eat, drink, and well, feel a little more human, and for that, I thank you.
From a very tired mother to a baby who doesn’t sleep. Ever.
~A~
And just as I finish writing, the baby wakes up screaming (for the second time tonight).

Lol. I love this post. I need a drive through costa nearby. I might write to them and ask them to build one! Xx
I love this!! Made me laugh. What would we do without coffee?! Xxx
Hahaha, I could have written this myself! Although I am far too jealous of your drive-thru!! xx
