We’ve lived in our house for almost 6 years now, and it’s going to be our home for a while longer. We’d love to move, but after both of us being made redundant we can’t afford to upsize.
I’m a little obsessed with scouring Rightmove for dream homes. I’m torturing myself really, but I still find myself looking at houses for sale in our area and dreaming about our forever home.
Our bedroom is pretty cramped. Especially with Bear’s travel cot in the corner. There’s always clothes lying around as we don’t have enough space for the amount of furniture we need.
With all that in mind I’ve decided to write about my dream bedroom. Things I could do to the bedroom as it is, and things I’d want if we were to move into our dream, forever home.
Furniture
We actually have a fairly new bed which we bought with our wedding money at the beginning of 2015. However it’s so damn creaky and the slightest move wakes Bear up. I’d totally buy a new bed if I could afford to.
I love this Brimnes bed from Ikea. The storage is exactly what we need and I love the shelves in the headboard! So clever.
We have quite a small bedroom so this is a great way to add a little extra storage without needing additional furniture like a bedside table.
We recently bought the Malm drawers for our bedroom and I absolutely love them! They are really good quality and such good value! We decided to get 2 of the 4 drawer ones. One for me and one for hubby.
My favourite thing about them is how quiet they are when you open and close the drawer. Perfect for a bedroom with a sleeping baby! I’ll definitely buy more when the boys are older and we have space for more furniture in their room.
Finally from Ikea I’d really love the Malm tallboy. At the moment I do my make up in the kitchen as it’s the only place I have room for everything. I would use some of these drawers to store my make up and beauty products and could put my make up on in my bedroom rather than the kitchen!
Accessories
I’m in love with bedding from Next. I think I’ve got 4 different sets at the moment. And each time there’s a sale I buy more. It’s beautiful quality and there’s always lovely prints.
At the moment I’m loving grey florals for our bed so I’d love this one from their current collection.
They also do really lovely throws and I think I’d treat myself to a huge faux fur one to drape over my bed. My mum has a couple on her sofa and they are SO cosy. I need saying I’ll get one for my house but never have.
En-suite
I couldn’t write about a dream bedroom without including an en suite! It wouldn’t have to be a full bathroom, I’d be happy with a wet room. I have no idea how high the en-suite or wet room cost would be, but as this is my dream bedroom I’d like it to be a luxurious as possible!
I’d love a waterfall shower. Somewhere I could hide away for as long as possible and relax. Somewhere not child friendly so I don’t end up like the mummy elephant from ‘Five Minutes Peace’.
To keep clutter to a minium I’d have a sink with built in storage. We actually have a sink with a cupboard underneath and it really does make a huge difference. Plus I think it looks beter.
Those are just a few ideas I have for my dream bedroom. Minimal and modern with a touch of comfort.
What styles do you like?
