Continuing with the theme of home improvements we’ve been thinking about quick and easy things we can do to our house to increase home security.
My husband is an electrician and recently fitted an outdoor security light on the side of house. We have it on a sensor so if anyone is on our property at night the light will come on. It’s also useful for getting the kids out of the car when it’s dark!
A little pricey, but home alarm systems are obviously a great safety product for homes. Recently I was selling at a local baby & toddler fair and there was a brand who sold alarm systems that hooked up to your phone. Pretty cool. I’m not sure I could afford it, but if money wasn’t an issue I’d definitely go for this system.
It’s important to make sure your doors are locked securely. If you’re buying a new house (but one that’s old!) buying replacement keys and locks might be worth thinking about if the doors are quite old.
We actually only have double glazing on the front windows of our house. The rest of the windows are original and lovely, and although I know we really should change them for double glazing, I don’t want to lose the original feature.
A secure gate to your garden could be another safety improvement, and actually something that’s on our list to do. We already have a tall gate, but after a few crazy storms recently it’s had a bit of a battering! If possible you could even gate your driveway.
Those are a few things I’ve been thinking about with regards to increasing home security with posev.com.
Do you have any tips?
