Right Dads/kids it’s that time of year where you spoil a certain someone, Mother’s Day. If there’s a mum in your life who deserves to be spoilt, then this is the day to do it! If you need reminding why we deserve to be spoilt then this might help… 😉
First things first. Give us time. Time, time and more time. A couple of hours, a day, maybe even a weekend. Whatever you can spare, give it to us! Why not send us to a spa, or to get a new hair do? Pedicure, massage, reflexology. All will be acceptable gifts. If you don’t want to book anything for the day, then a voucher will suffice. Just as long as we get some time to regather our thoughts, relax and unwind. Or just sleep.
If you can’t offer us time off, then make us feel fabulous. Make up, face products, perfumes. And not the cheap stuff. We want Mac, Elemis and Chanel.
If you can’t send us to the spa, then bring the spa to us. Bath bombs, bubbles and bubbly. That will do the trick. Throw in some candles and chocolates and you’ll certainly be in the good books.
Day out. Take control and plan the day. Lunch at your local pub, afternoon tea or fish and chips by the sea. An afternoon walk along the coast, or in your local nature reserve. Something that will provide beautiful and memorable photos. Remember, us mums love something to cherish.
You don’t always have to buy us stuff (well, you do but we like the home-made stuff too). Get the kids to make us something. Whether that be a hand print of your newborn, or a full on masterpiece from your teenager, we absolutely love stuff made by the kids. The blood sweat and tears put into that one of a kind piece of art will end up in the loft gathering dust. But you know what? We kept it. Because it means something.
Finally, it’s all about the card. Please, please, please don’t pick up the first one you see in your local supermarket (yes Daddy Lamb, I’m talking to you!) Pick one out you know we will love and appreciate. Do you have pet names for the kids? For example, I could get one of a sheep and a baby lamb, and the same for the Bear’s. There’s nothing cuter than a mummy and baby bear holding hands. Or buy something a little different and unique. There’s some gorgeous cards over at Katie Leamon.
Last month I published a Valentine’s Day gift guide which may also have some inspiration for you. You take a look at it here. Also you can read my Mother’s Day poem here.
I hope this little guide helps!

Sounds perfect. But it also depends on what kind of a mother you have. My mom would flip out if I spent any money on her. She wants me to “save”. She appreciates things like if I take the weight off her by doing all the chores around the house haha. my moms perfect mothers day would be me cleaning the whole house from top to bottom…correctly or else. ahah. looking for ward to it
