*I started writing this family travel products post a few weeks ago whilst on holiday. But as with every blog post I write at the moment, it takes me forever to finish!*
I’m writing this post from the comfort of our stunning holiday bungalow in Dorset. I’m sitting in a large open plan living room facing the ocean – it’s simply beautiful. The family have walked to the local shop, Bear is napping, so I’m taking the time to relax and do a bit of work undisturbed.
Yes, I’m on holiday so should of left the laptop at home, but I just couldn’t help myself. I’m making use of the extra hands to help with the boys!
I’ve decided to share with you our favourite family travel products, as a few of them are new and well worth a recommendation. Some aren’t necessarily for travelling but something we take with us.
First up is our travel cot. We have been sent the Space Cot to review and I love it. It’s super easy to put up and is nice and compact so doesn’t take up the whole bedroom. I’ll be writing a full review very soon, but had to mention it in this list, as it has quickly become one of our holiday essential items.

Anyone else struggle to put up a traditional travel cot? I remember babysitting my nephew when he was 6 months old and we couldn’t get the travel cot sides to lock in place. It was impossible!

The space cot is in credibly easy to unfold and fold again, which is exactly what every parent needs. Products that are easy to use! It’s also quite slimline and smaller than other travel cots we’ve used, which is great if the room you’re staying in doesn’t have much floor space.
What’s amazing and rather impressive about this travel cot is the ability to create a bassinet for young babies.
Next is Lambs Trunki. He’s had this for years and has now passed it down to his brother as he has upgraded to a super cool Star Wars suitcase. Although the Trunki doesn’t fit a huge amount in, it definitely fit everything we need for Bear to take on holiday.
It also make the perfect case for hand luggage if you’re going on a plane. It can easily be the toys and treats case and keep the kids entertained with plenty of fun stuff on the plane.
We wouldn’t go on a holiday without a baby carrier, and for me it would be the We Made Me Pao Papoose. We were sent some We Made Me carriers when Bear was teeny tiny and out of the 3 my favourite is definitely the Pao Papoose. I just find it really easy to use. It’s a 3-in-1 carrier so you can choose the best position for your needs. I personally just wear Bear like in the photo, but I’ll soon try wearing him on my back.
A Snoozeshade is an absolute must for any holiday in the sun, UK or abroad. We had one when Lamb was younger and used it on the two holidays abroad and have since used a new one in the UK a few times. Not only does it shade your little one from the sun while they nap, it protects them fro the UV rays. Genius. I highly recommend the Deluxe version with a peep hole. That way you can slightly shade then if they are awake, but allow them to sit and look around.
Another product I was sent to try out when Bear was a baby is the Vital Baby Aquaint sanitising water. This product is amazing. You can use it for sanitising anything from dummies, bottles, teeters or even hands. We have a big bottle in our kitchen and a mini bottle in the changing bag. Since being sent a bottle to try I’ve purchased an addition 2 large bottles. It’s perfect for sanitising juice cups that have been dropped in the sand!
I of course have to include our amazing changing bag in this list. We use the Babymule changing bag (as a rucksack) and really, really love it. It can be used in 3 ways but we personally love it as a rucksack keeping our hands free. This bag has lots of compartments without being too confusing. The nappy bag can be removed which is ideal for quick nappy change in the services. Or if you’re popping for a walk and don’t need the whole bag.
A large muslin blanket is something I take away with us even now, when Bear is almost 15 months old. The y have so many uses and you’ll find it such a useful product on holiday. It can easily be a picnic blanket, something to sit on on the beach, or even a towel to dry feet. It’s a blanket, a sunshade (please don’t cover your pram with it though, use a Snoozeshade), or makeshift bib! We have used our so much which is why I’ve added one to my own range which you can purchase here.
If you’ve got a little one who loves being swaddle or sleeps in a Gro Bag then I definitely recommend investing in a travel GroBag. We used in with Lamb when he was a toddler and have one for Bear, although he’s never really liked being in a GroBag. The Orla Kiely range is absolutely gorgeous but they start in 1 tog. For super hot holiday you can get a 0.5 tog travel go bag which can be used in the cot or car seat/pram.
One of my favourite weaning brand is OXO tot. They’ve sent us lots of products over the years and I just love the brand. For travelling my favourite product is their Roll Up Bib. It does exactly what it’s called – rolls up. It’d completely wipeable so can be cleaned and sanitised after every meal and you don’t have to worry about your changing bag becoming grubby or stick of food when you chuck it back in. Of course I love the grey version, but it is also available in their signature green, blue and pink.

I’ve tried a fair few suncreams with the kids (we are lucky they don’t have sensitive skin). At the moment we love Aldi’s own kids factor 50 suncream. It has a 5 star UVB rating, unlike leading brand which are only 3 or 4 star. Really shocking considering they are three times the price! Supermarket own is cheaper and more protective so go for that if you don’t need a specialist sun cream. This full range of sun protection is only £9.99! Cheaper than one bottle form a leading brand. No brainer in my opinion ha.
Finally I’ll add in the buggy we have been using for every holiday since Lamb was 18 months old. Our trusty Baby Jogger City Mini. I actually purchased this and did not get it sent to me. (However I have recently worked with Baby Jogger on a different review).
This stroller is one of the best on the market, and that’s coming from a paying customer, not a blogger. It’s pricey, but it’s worth every penny. They are just built to last. The basket isn’t the biggest, but can fit plenty in there. The hood is huge and of course the one handed fold means you can juggle the beach bag, bucket and spade, and baby whilst folding down the buggy!
I think I’ll stop the list there. I could probably add quite a few more so maybe I’ll do another post in a couple of weeks.
What are your favourite products for family holidays?
