Make-up has been one of my true loves since I was a little girl. Ever since my mum used to sit and do my make up for the monthly school disco in primary school. Yes primary school. I had lip liner in my little bag and everything.
Now, I’m not claiming to be any sort of pro. I can’t tell you the best techniques or even if what I’m doing is correct. But I love make-up. I love waking up my face after my 6,729,298th sleepless night with a bucket load of concealer and dusting of highlighter.
I’ve been wanting to do more lifestyle blog posts for a long time, but haven’t had the confidence to publish any. But, as you may know already, I’m throwing myself at 2018 with a positive mind and making this year more about me. Because, when mummy’s happy, the boys are happy.
So today I’m sharing my go to make-up look to add a splash of glam to your face. This wouldn’t be something I wear everyday, however I have found myself looking rather glam on the school run if I’ve had the time.
My make-up collection has grown quite a lot recently. Blame Instagram. As soon as I see a product go a little crazy, I buy it (if I can afford it!) I have a mixture of anything from pricey products to Primark products, and I love them all!

First of all I prime my face with a mix of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm with The Ordinary Silicone Primer. The foundation I’m using at the moment is the high-coverage foundation from The Ordinary. I really love this foundation. I use shade 1.2P which is light with pink undertones. It’s perfect for my skin tone. If I’m going out for the evening, or want a really heavy coverage (or I’m suffering with breakouts) I opt for Estee Lauder Double Wear.
I hear mixed things about how you should apply your foundation. Beauty blender, brush, or fingers. Some make-up artists opt to use their fingers as the natural oils in your skin help apply the product more naturally (apparently), while other advice is to use a synthetic brush.
At the moment I’m using this brush from Wilkos. I really love this brush range as my go to budget make up brushes, but if I’m splashing out a little I love the Real Techniques Bold Metals range.
For concealing I absolutely love the NYX Concealer Wand. Alternatively, if I also use the Mac Pro Longwear concealer.

I absolutely HAVE to use powder after applying foundation. Otherwise I look too oily. My favourite powder at the moment is the Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte powder. I love it so much I’ve stocked up from ASOS as Boots always seems to be sold out.
My latest make-up purchase is from Primark. I needed a new highlighter so decided to try their PS… Insta Girl Iridescent Highlighter. OMG for a couple of quid it’s amazing. Definitely recommend.

For eyes I have staple products that I refuse to change. I’m obsessed with the 60’s vibe and appreciate a strong wing. For this I use Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Liner. I’ve been using this eyeliner for years and and haven’t found one as good yet, but I’ll keep looking as I love trying new products!
I won’t leave the house without pencilling in my eyebrows. I use the Benefit Brows-a-go-go, which has almost run out (I’ve had it for about 5 years!) and they have discontinued the product – boo!
Finally, I am OBSESSED with this mascara. I saw a post on Facebook go viral and thought I’d try for myself. It’s AMAZING. The Essence False Lash Effect mascara from Wilkos is one of the best mascaras I’ve tried. A close second is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I love both of them.

The eyeshadow palettes I use at the moment are the NYX Lingerie and Cosmic Metals palettes. They complement each other beautifully. For this look I went in heavy with the metals, to add shimmer and shine to my eyes, but for day time I’d stick to the Lingerie palette. These retails at £8 each which is a total bargain.
My two favourite lip colours at the moment are the Primary PS…Insta Girl Intense Liquid Lipstick and Sleek Make-up Matte Me Metallic. For this particular look I actually se both. I began with the lilac lipgloss and layered the metallic bronze on top.
So that’s my ‘splash of glam’ make-up look. I really hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the products I used to achieve this.
