At the end of July we took Lamb on holiday to Gran Canaria – not something we could really afford to do, but we want to make as many amazing memories with him as we can, and what’s more amazing than learning to swim in the sun!
Before we left the lovely lot at Konfidence sent Lamb one of their award winning Original Konfidence Swim Jackets to help him gain confidence in the water.
The Konfidence Swim Jacket provides built-in buoyancy to give infants and children natural buoyancy in the water. We were at first thinking of giving him armbands, but learned they are not suitable for little ones learning to swim, and don’t give them the buoyancy they need.
The Konfidence float system aids swimming development by allowing buoyancy to be tailored to the wearer’s needs as they grow and develop water confidence. So basically, the more he learns to swim, the less floats he needs in his jacket, which can be individually removed, until eventually he’s swimming with no buoyancy aids at all!
What myself and my husband really liked about the jacket is how easy it was to hold Lamb in the pool while he was wearing it. It’s sturdy, fitted and doesn’t get slippy, so you can grip onto them safely in the pool.
I genuinely saw a huge improvement in Lambs confidence in the pool while he was wearing his swim jacket. Compared to last year he was a completely different little boy. He was loving the water so much all he wanted to do was jump in!
I think after realising his jacket helped him float he was able to spend more time enjoying the water, rather than worrying about it.
As you can see from the pictures, we didn’t need to hold him much at all. It was really nice to be able to teach him to swim without his arms wrapped around our necks! 🙂
I you’re thinking of starting swimming lessons, or spending more time in the pool with your toddler, then I highly recombined the Konfidence Swim Jacket. In my honest opinion, it’d s really great product and much better then armbands! Their arms are free giving them the ability to swim freely. I did find the jacket a little snug on Lamb (although they say on their website it is a snug fit), so if your child is 2 1/2, it might be worth trying out both the 18 month-3 years size, as well as the 4-5 years, especially if you have a big toddler.
* I was sent this product free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
