Is it me or has the weather suddenly got super cold? I mean, I can’t go out without a hat, scarf and gloves. It’s just so bitter!
I love wrapping up in winter clothes, but spending all of this time outside, we all feel a little under the weather and need to snuggle to warm up. (I do love a snuggle).
This weekend was full on. But the problem is we’re all a little sniffly. In fact, I’m really sniffly. I’ve got a full on winter cold (again) and feel pretty rubbish. We’ve all been a bit poorly for weeks now, and it just won’t go away. But life goes on right? Parents don’t get sick days.
The boys adore playing outside with their Dad. I swear as soon as they step foot in the garden, all the tantrums and bad moods are pushed aside and they’re grinning like a Cheshire cat. They have so much fun I don’t even think they can feel the cold anymore!
We made sure we had a fun filled couple of days this weekend, but by Sunday night we were all exhausted. Exhausted and cold.

It’s become a bit of a joke between the boys and I about how much they love having ‘boys day’ or ‘boys night’. If I tell Lamb I’m going out he fist bumps the air and shouts “yessssss!” Then looks at me and recovers by saying something about having Mummy and Lamb time later.
Hmmmm… yeah thanks kid.
Because Daddy works during the week, spending alone time with him has become a special ‘thing’ to do in our house. We try to make sure Lamb has ‘boys night’ once a week. Even if it just means I go upstairs to work and they have a sleepover downstairs.
I spend all day with Bear, and walk Lamb on the school run everyday. They get their alone time with me, but they need alone time with Daddy too. Time where they get his full attention to laugh, joke, talk and just be silly. This is why bathtime is Daddy time. (And I stay downstairs and have a cuppa in peace!)
The boys all go upstairs to splash around in a warm bath and thaw out those frozen fingers and toes. Which is exactly what they need after hours of fun playing outside with Daddy.
Even if your baby’s skin isn’t overly sensitive, and they don’t suffer with something like eczema, these cold, winter days can still be damaging to their delicate skin. So it’s important to use something like AVEENO® Baby Soothing Relief Emollient Wash, to ensure their skin is being gently cleansed and comforted.
“Dry, flaky baby skin is more common during the winter season. Cold air carries less moisture than warm air, and dry air combined with harsh winds, a runny nose, or dribble can make baby’s skin red and inflamed. Bath time is the perfect opportunity to rehydrate the skin.” ~ Dr Shefali Rajpopat, Consultant Dermatologist
After bath time we have been using the AVEENO® Baby Soothing Relief Emollient Cream. AVEENO® Baby products are specially formulated with natural colloidal oatmeal or oat extracts, and are paediatrician tested which reassures me they are going to be gentle on Bear’s skin.
Having such an active boy, who adores the outside no matter how cold it is, (and refuses to wear a hat!) I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to look after his skin.
As I mentioned we are all suffering with colds, and going through multiple tissues with runny noses. So it’s inevitable that Bear’s skin will start to dry out and flake. We can’t completely avoid winter bugs and the bitter weather, but we can make sure we’re using something like the AVEENO® Baby Soothing Relief products to look after our skin.

We love Aveeno! It’s the only thing that keeps my hands and face eczema free during the winter. We have recently started using the Aveeno baby stuff too for all of us! Eilidh x
Aveeno is my absolute favourite for my little ones skin, it’s so soothing!
Ahh really nice that the boys get special Daddy time at bath time each day, this will be so important to their relationship as they grow older. We always get Aveeno products when I see them on special! Mich x
We have been an Aveno family since my boys were tiny. I love it
I’ve never tried the AVEENO range but it sounds perfect for my son; he has quite sensitive skin and like your two, LOVES being outside so is really feeling it with chapped skin and dribble/snot!
Yes! Its got absolutely freezing out of nowhere hasn’t it! I love Aveeno, it works wonders xx
We love the Aveeno baby range too, I use it on my little pair
I love that they have ‘boys’ nights. I like you get your time too. I must do this. I discovered Aveeno with my son as he got a rough patch of skin. It worked wonders and I would always recommend it now.
I’ve been meaning to try Aveeno as have heard good things! B’s hands are so dry at the moment, so will give it a go 🙂 xx
We’ve never tried Aveeno but everyone raves about them, after reading this I’m definitely tempted by them! I’ll have to keep an eye out for some, especially over Winter!
Yes it is freezing! Yes we’ve all had colds and the probably with having 6 in the house is it’s near impossible to get rid of it, just constantly going from one to the next. We love Aveeno I’m our house. My daughter has eczema and it works brilliant for her but actually we all like using it too x
Completely agree. It’s freezing and you’re right, Patrick’s skin is definitely feeling it. We’ve not tried Aveeno before but I will be looking out for it now.
Aww, all kids need alone time with their parents individually. My youngest would prefer me to his dad any day, so we often encourage ‘dad time’ to try and get them to bond more. Apparently daddy can’t do anything for him!! Aveeno sounds perfect, just what you need for skin that’s been outdoors so much! 🙂 x
