You all know my kids are allergic to early nights. We’ve never been strict at bedtimes, which I know is probably the reason why my kids refuse to listen to me now. But no matter how hard we try, they’re just not tired at bedtime!
It’s “mama!” ” Daaaaadeeeeee!” over and over.
“I’m scared.” “I need a wee.”
“More giraffe!” (Bear calls his milk Giraffe, any parents who give their children Alpro Soya milk will know why).
I’ve used plenty of Gro Company products in the past, and when they offered to send me a selection to help with Bears bedtime routine I figured why not!
We received their new GroRomper to help regulate his temperature in the hope of getting him to sleep through the night. Both of my boys get very warm in bed and kick off their covers, but then I worry about the temperature dropping and them waking because their cold.
The GroRomper is the perfect solution to keep Bear warm at night. We were sent the romper in Blue Stripe in size 24-36 months. As Bear is very little for his age, this size is too big for him at the moment (he’s 27 months) but as it has legs he can still wear it ok.
This all-in-one bedding solution helps wriggly kids stay warm, but keeps their temp regulated with mesh arms and they choice to be footless.
The romper also has a reversible zip making nappy changes much easier.
Something we’ve used before with Lamb is the GroClock. We struggled with getting Lamb to sleep at a decent time, as well as waking too early. So we used the GroClock and taught him about sleeping when the blue star was sleeping and waking up when the yellow star wakes up.
As Bear isn’t quite as good at communication as his brother was at this age, we weren’t sure if he would understand the concept of the GroClock, but to our surprise he waved goodnight to ‘Mr Sunshine’!
And yes, after drinking his milk he quietly drifted off and slept all night. Amazing right?
We now use the GroClock every night. Bear says goodnight and watches the blue star fall alseep.
Falling asleep drama free, sleeping all night, staying in bed until 7pm, it’s not guaranteed with the GroClock. But we are willing to try anything to instil a better bedtime routine with our boys.
The final product we’ve added to our bedtime routine is the Gro Anywhere Blind. During the summer it’s so hard to get the boys to sleep with the bright sun rays shining through their window. Adding the blackout blind allows us the darken their room enough so the light doesn’t distract them.
What’s great about the blind is you can use it anywhere (hence the name). We had one when Lamb was younger and took it away with us whenever we stayed somewhere else. You never know how good (or bad!) the curtains will be!
The new GroCompany products have definitely helped us concentrate on a better bedtime routine. Making sure the blind is fitted well, putting Bear into his GroRomper and using the GroClock to teach Bear about sleep time and awake time.
It won’t be an overnight fix, but we’re certainly seeing improvements.
So here’s to a stress free bedtime routine!
