Choosing a great photographer for your event is a big decision to make, and if you have never done it before here are some of the things you will want to consider and ask yourself.

The level of photographer you will need is going to depend on the type of event you are hosting. Budget is a big thing when it comes to planning anything and it can of course be difficult for you to set a large budget for a photographer when you have tonnes of other things to think about. You will need to set a specific budget and talk to a few different photographers to see whether there is anything they can do for you with the money you have available to you.

Do they have a website or portfolio?

Before you sign and hire a photographer to do your event, it is crucial that you go and have a look at their previous work. This can include a website where they sell their prints or show off their photographs or maybe even a portfolio which they have made to show their different skills behind the lens. You need to make sure you are happy with their ability before you move on.

Are they friendly and personable?

More than anything else when you hire someone to take part in a special event of your life you will want them to be friendly and personable. Although it might not seem like this matters, you want to hire someone you can trust and who genuinely cares about the job because this will allow them to be more reliable and take more time to get things right for you.

Do they have recommendations?

When you come to hiring anyone to do a job for you, you will want to have a look and see if they have any recommendations or testimonials which you can read before you hire. For a photographer this could be people sharing photos on their social media and this will give you a good idea of the quality of image they are providing to their customers. Make sure to check for any bad reviews too. It is always better to be on the safe side and you can always request to see some of their past work if you want to be doubly sure.

If you are reaching the end of your pregnancy, you might feel the hormones kicking in and urging you to get active. If your nursery is still not complete, or you are just thinking about turning your spare room into a baby’s paradise, you will need to tackle the job before your big bump gets in the way. Some people simply don’t know where to start, so you will need to make sure that you are creating a detailed plan to get ready for the arrival of the new family member.

Declutter

The first thing you will need to do is empty the proposed nursery completely, so you can start with your design work. Get rid of things you can’t use in other rooms, maybe arrange a house clearance service? If there are items in other rooms that could be replaced by the ones you are just taking out of the future nursery, you can get rid of them or give them away. 

Choose the Colour Scheme

Once you can see the entire room and the walls, you can decide on the colour scheme. Whether you already know if you are expecting a boy or a girl, you can choose the appropriate colour. However, don’t make everything boring baby pink or blue; choose a colour that will suit every personality, as you cannot know what your child will prefer. If there is one thing that people will not tell you about pregnancy, it is that it can get really messy. You will need a stain-resistant carpet and a washable paint or carpet, if you would like to deal with accidents promptly. Your baby is likely to have moments when they don’t consider how hard you worked on the decoration project, and you will understand why leaving them without a nappy for a minute is really not a good idea.

Avoid Corners

One of the things you don’t want in your nursery is corners. Once your baby sits up or starts climbing or walking, they will be in constant danger. You have two options. Either buy nursery furniture without sharp edges and corners, or get some protectors that will help you eliminate the risk of injury. Don’t forget about the danger of the doors; little hands and fingers can easily get trapped between the frame and the door itself.  

 

Take Care of Your Own Needs, Too

While your nursery will be mainly your baby’s domain, you will spend a lot of time there, too. You will need a comfortable chair to sit on, and a spare bed if you have space, so you can stay with your baby whenever they feel upset or unwell. You might want to install a nursery monitor or speaker system that allows you to stream music in the room, so you and your baby feel relaxed during feeding times.

 

Allow Space for Flexibility

You also have to design your nursery with the future needs of your baby in mind. Create a space where they can play safely, and get shelves or boxes for the toys they will have. If you design the room for a newborn, it will be not suitable for your baby when they grow and are starting to explore their environment. You might also get a cot that can later be reassembled into a toddler bed, so you can keep the style of your room and save money at the same time.

DIY Decorations to Save Money

While there are loads of gorgeous decorations available for babies, nothing will match your own design. You can make your own baby mobile while you are waiting for the arrival of the new family member. If you are good with the sewing machine, you can also save money on bedding and create your own baby set that matches the style of the room and your taste as well.

Getting ready for a baby can be challenging. You will need to take care of the space and get everything in order. Chances are that your hormones are already making you anxious, so the sooner you tackle the issue the better you will feel about yourself and your achievements. Plan your nursery design early, and you can reduce stress during your last trimester.
