This post is in collaboration with Librio.
This month we have been reading a brand new book form Librio called ‘The Tree, The Key, and Me‘.
I don’t have many memories from when I was young. I moved to Essex when I was 10 and basically anything from my childhood in Yorkshire before then is almost non existent, which is sad really.
One thing I do remember is how much my brothers and I read with our mum. Bedtime stories were popular in our house (Enid Blyton’s The Wishing Chair was our fave) and I remember snuggling up in our parents bed surrounded in books.
We even made our own library by colouring in little squares of paper and sticking them to the spine of our books, just like a real library!
Reading with my boys hasn’t quite gone the same way as my childhood. Lamb is older so of course will sit and listen to a bedtime story. But Bear just won’t. We are lucky if we get 5 minutes from him!
Now Lamb is in School and learning to read we are making reading part of our daily routine again. It may not always be at bedtime (you remember my kids don’t like going to bed), but at some point in the day/evening we will read with Lamb.

As I grew up appreciating good story books, I’m trying to instil the same passion into my boys. I’m sure as they get older, we will be sitting down and reading for longer periods of time, without the little one turning the pages too quickly or running away!
We’ve been reading The Tree, The Key and Me for a few weeks now, and it has quickly become a bedtime favourite.
The book can be ordered directly from Librio, who have a super fun section on their website for personalising the book.
The variety of options available, means you can really create a character similar to the look of your child. We think this looks just like Lamb!
The story is one full of magic and adventure, suited to young children with vivid imaginations. It’s perfect for Lamb who is 5 and a half. Following a story about himself always captures in attention and he absolutely loves hearing about what adventure he’s on next.
As you can tell from the title, this book is about a tree and and a key, and a special little boy or girl. They start their adventure by finding a key that opens a door in a magic tree. Inside they come across a Bear and other animals who ask for their help.

The animals are worried because the forest is losing it’s colour and the animals don’t know which plants to eat. They take the child deep into the forest to find the witch, as she is the reason for the loss of colour. I won’t give away the story and let you buy your own to find out why!
The rest of the adventure finds the little boy/girl helming the animals and the witch replace the colour back into the forest. There’s magic, problem solving, and of course friendship in this beautifully written story.
You’ll have to buy the book to find out how Lamb gets home from his adventure…
The book overall is of a very high quality, with beautiful illustrations full of colour (apart from when the forest loses its colour!)
The story is a pleasure to read, in fact we find ourselves reading it most days as it’s so well written and really captures Lambs attention. As I mentioned above he adores reading personalised books, as he loves imagining it’s actually him on these wonderful adventures.
With Christmas fast approaching, I truly believe this would make the perfect gift for your child. And if Librio release more stories, we will be first in line to read them!
