Become The Best You – Guest post written by Reneé Davis (aka Mummy Tries)
There are so many self-help books out there telling you how to think, what to wear and how to behave. Qualified professionals are desperate to give you their views on any subject matter you require guidance on, so what’s special about me? I’m just a regular person. I don’t have letters after my name or a rags to riches story, so why should you bother reading my book?
I understand pain, and how to overcome it
After having an abusive childhood, and self-destructive young adulthood, I ditched my past, along with negativity and toxic influences, and created a much brighter future. Rather than just talk about my children never having to experience what I went through myself, like my parents did, I worked damn hard to ensure it was the case.
Throughout Become the Best You I share personal stories, and insights on how I overcame the many obstacles I have faced over the years. I tell you how I turned my life around, and broke the cycle of dysfunction. Getting passed my past wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible.
If you can identify with this list of demons I had to conquer, this is the book for you!
– Raised by parents who had dysfunctional childhoods and subsequently had one myself
– Moved house lots and went to many schools
– Suffered bullying in several schools
– Suffered sexual abuse as a child
– Left home at a very young age after not finishing school
– Struggled with depression
– Got into a lot of debt
– Had very little self-respect
– Used to sleep around
– Abused drugs and alcohol
– Put myself into unnecessary, dangerous situations
What do I hope you will achieve by reading the book?
– The ability to make peace with your past
– The ability to look in the mirror and like what you see
– The ability to find your inner strength and start respecting yourself
– The courage to re-define the rules of relationships that have become toxic
– The courage to cut ties with people who make you miserable
– The courage to break the cycle, keep it broken and become the best you
What the book doesn’t do
– Use overly complicated words or examples that are difficult to understand
– Go into minute detail telling you exactly what to do
– Patronise you and assume that you aren’t capable of turning your life around

Teletubbies Book Review & Giveaway
It feels a little surreal reviewing the new Teletubbies books with my boys mainly because I remember when the Teletubbies first appeared on our screens nearly 20 years ago! I was a 9 year old girl who spent most of her time playing outside but I remember my friends and I becoming a little obsessed with these new fun loving characters, and we even bought the CD!
So whats different about the new Teletubbies?
It’s been nearly 20 years since the show was first aired and they have now developed it for children in a world full of technology, whilst keeping the innocence and friendly characteristics. These days children are surrounded by screens, but this can be educational and beneficial to development, so as a parent I’m happy to hear the new and improved show embraces technology as well as education.
To find our more about how Teletubbies can be beneficial to your childs development, Dr Jacqueline Harding explains it in this video.
For this review we received the following books…
Teletubbies ‘Magic Watering Can’ – Po’s watering can is magic and everything she waters grows & grows.
Teletubbies ‘Favourite Things’ – Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Po all have their favourite things to play with but Laa-Laa has lost hers Can the others help her find it?
Teletubbies ‘Pocket Library’ – Say Eh-oh to Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po and their friends in this Teletubbies Pocket Library. With six durable board books in a smart slipcase, each containing colourful images of everyone’s favourite Teletubbies characters.
The Teletubbies reappeared on our screens last November and if I’m honest I wasn’t sure if Lamb would be that interested. He’s totally hooked on superheroes and bad guys at the moment so I thought this might be a little too ‘babyish’ for him, but I was wrong. He has watched it multiple times and seems to really enjoy it.
When I gave him his new books I was surprised to hear him name all of the characters and he sat and read them straight away. I thought it would be a nice idea if he read to his baby brother so we snuggled on my bed for a bedtime story. Lamb was so cute and ‘read’ the story to his brother.
What’s great about these books are they are suitable for babies as they are hardback, the colours capture little ones attention and as they get older they can begin to understand the story and read along. These will definitely be looked at a lot by both of my boys.
As you can see Lamb and his brother already have a beautiful bond and bedtime stories is my favourite time of day.
Lamb loves being able to watch programmes and read the book at the same time. For example, we sat and watched The Lion King last week and followed the story with his book. I’m sure he will be doing the same with his Teletubbies books too. It’s a great way of learning what they are reading about and be able to do word and picture association.
To celebrate the launch of the new Teletubbies books I am offering your the chance to win your own Teletubbies book bundle.
