A few months ago C&G Baby Club asked us what makes our kids happy? What’s their #SoundOf Happy?
Is it a mother’s gentle voice, a father’s cheerful song, a brother’s laugh, a sister’s giggle? Maybe they love you blowing raspberries on their belly, singing incy windy spider, or clapping along to music.
have been working alongside psychologists with a team of mums & babies and a high-profile singer/songwriter to create the world’s first song made from sounds and melodies that make our little bubbas smile! Mums and dads across the UK were asked to the name the noises that make their little ones happy. Top sounds include sneezing (51%), animal sounds (23%) and baby laughter (28%), which are all featured in the song that was created by , leading child and music psychologists and Grammy award-winning musician Imogen Heap.
The song is designed to encourage happiness and laughter for babies aged 6 – 24 months. It was played to and tested on 56 infants, monitoring their reactions to see whether it worked. The cheerful two minute long tune amazed researchers when it brought smiles of delight and laughter to the little ones.
I played the song to both of my boys and it certainly got a positive reaction! BB was mesmerised by the video and every now and then would wave his arms and smile. Lamb loved the different sounds especially the ‘wheeeeeeeee’.
I have a rather fussy baby, it turns out he may have silent reflux. So I’m always playing white noise to calm him at bedtime or in the car. Now he’s a little older the white noise is having less effect and we’re moving onto lullabies. The is now my go to song to play during trips in the car or when I’m trying to relax him at home.
What’s great about the song is the variety of sounds and noises alongside the singing. It definitely captures my boys’ attention.
The song has finally launched and you can see hear all about it right here!
