If you follow me on social media, you may have seen my plea for donations to my Just Giving page. Tomorrow I will be cutting off a minimum of 8 inches of my hair and donating it to Little Princess Trust.
I heard about the charity over social media, and then read a story about a little boy who grew his hair long deliberately so he could donate. What a lovely thing to do.
If you don’t know much about this charity you can read about them here.
I’ve spent most of my childhood with super long hair, went through a ‘Pob’ phase in my early twenties and grew it out again. It grows quickly, is thick and in pretty good condition.
After my wedding in December last year I decided I’d had enough of my long hair. I wanted it long for my wedding day, but other than that most days you’ll find it tied up in a bun on the top of my head.
It’s time for a change.
I want to cut my hair anyway, so why not donate it to a wonderful charity like Little Princess Trust and do a little good in the world.
To spice things up a bit, and to make this more of a challenge I’ve decided to dye my hair pink! No, no, before you get excited, I’m not talking neon pink, think Ellie Goulding circa 2013.
According to The Little Princess Trust website, my hair will only make half a wig. Well, that’s just not good enough. So as well as donating my hair and dying it pink I want to raise £350 for the charity, as this is how much it costs for them to buy a wig for a child.
So far I’m at £270 and I’m overwhelmed by people’s generosity. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.
I desperately want to raise another £70 before I get the chop, so if you can spare a pound or two, please donate to my Just Giving page (there’s a button on the side bar that will take you straight to my page).
This is such an amazing cause which can make a whole lot of difference to a child who has suffered hair loss due to cancer.
I won’t know who gets my hair, what the wig looks like or if the child smiles when they receive it, but knowing I’m making a difference is enough to make me do this.
I don’t have much money to give but I can donate a hell of a lot of hair!
