As you all know, I am very much a jeans and t-shirt fan. This combination is my go-to outfit most days. If I feel I want to look a little more special, usually, the jeans stay and the t-shirt gets swapped for a nice top or blouse. As a result, I like to be fairly aware of jean trends. I try to follow when the styles that are available and have started looking at places like Simply Be who start from size 10!
Goodbye Skinny Jeans?
Personally, I love skinny jeans. As you can see here, I even carried on wearing them throughout pregnancy. Skinny jeans will always available to us in a variety of styles and colours, but they aren’t always ‘on trend’. There’s certainly been a shift in what is trendy in denim this year.
Tapered Jeans
The majority of retailers are currently stocking the tapered style jeans that were very popular in the early 80s. These are very comfortable, especially the high-waisted ones. If you are curvy, like me, this particular cut is a particularly good option. They provide plenty of room around the hip area.
Straight Leg Jeans
Another option is straight-legged jeans. These were also very popular in the 80s. They look great, but if you do not have skinny legs finding a pair that fit properly all the way down can be difficult.
Cropped Jeans
With the weather being crazy hot right now, if you want something that is a little cooler, you can opt to wear crop jeans. They look surprisingly good when worn with flat shoes and sandals.
Culotte Jeans
If you do not want to wear denim shorts keep an eye out for culotte style jeans. They are not widely available, but, you can usually find them online.
Detailed and Distressed Denim
Distressed and bleached denim is also making a bit of a comeback, the lighter the better. If you prefer darker jeans keep an eye out for the stylish top-stitched ones. Alternatively look for jeans with a contrast stripe down the side seams. There’s a few places rocking this trend this year.
Wide-legged Jeans
Now, I know I said we won’t all be wearing flairs, this year. But, if you do like the wide-legged look you can find that cut too. Most retailers have at least a few in their range and at some point.
Head-to-toe Denim
Are you daring enough to rock denim on denim? Personally I love it!
What is your favourite jean style?
