Oh hi guys! It’s been a minute.
Well what a start to the year we’ve had. I think you can tell from the title our household has been hit with a nasty virus this month, with myself suffering the worst.
I’ve never had the flu before but I’d happily say this was that or very close to. It started with a cough just after Christmas, then on the 6th of January I woke with a terrible cold, and well, it just got worse and worse.
Typical hey? Lamb was back at school on the 7th, so I was poorly just in time for the school run. Wonderful.
Turns out I was TOO poorly for the school run, as by the morning I could barely walk and my other half had to go into work late and take Lamb to school himself.
It’s taken me over 2 weeks to recover – the longest I’ve ever been ill, and of course being a mum to 2 young boys inevitably led to one of them catching the virus.
My poor little Bear cub was fighting a temp of 40 for almost a week and we were both stuck on the sofa for several days recovering.
Normally when I fall ill I’m back to more after 48 hours, so initially I expected to be back at work as normal, but alas, I am only just getting into my studio to print orders, and let’s face it, I’m totally behind on everything.
I wanted to start this year with a bang. Fresh pages in my planner ready for many to-do lists, an array of new product ideas I’ve been jotting down over the last couple of months. Generally a thirst for success!
Maybe even a rebrand of the blog? I’ve found myself moving away from parenting topics and I’ve had a new name ready for a while now. But I suppose it’s not a priority when I’m trying to put my time and efforts into the business. But definitely something I want to a achieve this year.
So we’re all finally back to normal health (well I’m about 95% now), and getting into our family routine. I’ve opened my planner and I’m organising my working schedule.
I’ve dropped Bears nursery hours, because quite frankly the fees were bankrupting me. So I’m now down to 2 working days a week. Of course only during school hours because I have to do the school run every day. It’s not a lot of time to run and grow a business, write a blog and be active on social media really is it. But I’m powering through. The sales on the shop are increasing each month (apart from this month, it is January after all). And that’s my main goal right now.
Although January has been a tough month, I’m ready to throw myself at February and boss it.

It’s so horrid when you can’t face the school run, isn’t it? The flu is just dreadful but I am glad you’re finally getting back into the swing of things now!
Thanks lovely x
Oh no! There really is so much that’s going around at the moment. I’m on my way into work and have an ear ache! Which I think it linked to the cold the boys have been happily spreading around my husband and I. Glad you are almost there hope you get back on track with your plans x
Sorry you’ve been poorly! We’re all just coming down with something! Theodore has a snotty runny nose and I have a scratchy throat… I know its the beginning of an awful week!
Caitylis x x
Ahh sorry you’ve had the flu. I got the flu after christmas and ended up in hospital with pneumonia and pleurisy. It was hideous! Excited to see what you do with the rebrand!
Oh you poor thing. My mum had pleurisy and broke her ribs from coughing so much!!
It is awful isn’t it?! I had it for the first time a couple of years ago, just before Christmas. As you say, it took a good 2 weeks to recover!
It’s been 3 weeks and I’m pretty much fully recovered, except my left ear and left side of my throat still a little tender! It’s been a lonnnnnnnng month! x
