Vicky and I are really excited to have been asked to test and review Sudocrem Care & Protect, their new nappy rash cream. Which is perfect timing, as both Lamb and Bear are teething at the mo! We are still waiting for that first tooth from Bear, Lamb, however, just got another 4 in two weeks! Ouch! His little smile is looking so grown up 🙂

Week 1

So today I started using the new cream. My first impressions so far are very good. The cream is very smooth and soft. I have used a lot of nappy rash creams on the market, and this one definitely seems easiest to spread and rub in. It isn’t sticky and thick so can easily be wiped off your fingers afterwards. I am already a huge fan of Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream (I remember my mum using it when I was little), which I have also used for nappy rash. As it is quite thick, I worry about using too much on Lamb’s delicate skin. So the new Care & Protect is the perfect alternative, plus it prevents nappy rash, as well as fighting it. Bonus.

Week 4

I have been using Sudocrem Care & Protect for a month now and I have to say I’m really impressed. If I’m honest, i’ve always been pretty good at catching nappy rash before it gets too bad, Jaxson has never had anything too serious. But you can never totally prevent the redness from those dirty nappies. If Jaxson does ever get a little sore, like all babies do, I’ll put on a bit of Care & Protect and the next day the redness has gone. Impressive. As I said in week 1, the cream is very soft and smooth, and wipes off your fingers very easily. Super useful if you’re out and about, or in a hurry. It also rubs in clear, so no risk of staining your clothes with horrible white finger prints.

What I also love about Care & Protect, is the tube design. The flip lid means you can use the cream one handed. I don’t have a lot of patience when changing Jaxson’s nappy (he’s not one for sitting still), so being able to flip the lid open and squeeze out a little cream onto my finger, while using my other hand to hold Jaxson’s legs, make my life a lot easier! 🙂 (I really hate losing those little screw tops, or even worse, not being able to screw it back on. Breathe Alex.)

So how does it work?

Retailing at around £3.99 for 30g, Care & Protect isn’t the cheapest nappy cream available, however, I have been using mine for a month now and I have plenty left in the tube. It’s definitely worth the money.

If I had to describe Sudocrem as a brand in one word, I would say ingenious! It works. It really works. When I was little I asked for Sudocrem for everything. My mum called it the ‘magic cream’. That says it all. Now as I mother myself, I am still using Sudocrem products for every skin need I have. It will take a lot of convincing (and cake) to get me to change to another brand.
