Product Review: Sophie la Girafe toys
Lamb & Bear were very lucky to be sent a gift each from the team at Sophie La Girafe. They are both already huge fans of their Sophie la Girafe teether
Lamb received a Sophie la girafe wooden pyramid stacker.
Bear got FanFan the fawn to nibble on.
Both gifts were very well received by Lamb & Bear. In fact, they happily shared with each other! The wooden stacker is recommended for ages 12+ month, and FanFan is for ages 3+ month, but after watching Lamb & Bear playing with their gifts, we realised both toys were enjoyed equally. Taking into consideration their 5 month age gap, Marnie enjoyed nibbling on the wooden discs, while Jaxson enjoyed making FanFan squeak!
FanFan is just as lovely as Sophie. A really cute design and soft and squidgy for the little ones gums. We are currently waiting for Baby Bear’s toothy number one to make an appearance, so she is definitely going to put FanFan to good use!
As for Lamb, we have a love for wooden toys in our house (secretly it’s my obsession, obviously a 13 month old doesn’t know what wood is, but I can pretend!) So I was super excited when we opened his wooden stacker. Over the past few weeks he has started to really concentrate when playing. Sorting shapes, putting things in boxes, taking them out again (and again, and again!) When we gave him the stacker, he really tried to stack the rings, and clapped away when he finally managed to (another new thing he has learned this month, clapping!)
Baby Bear also enjoyed playing with the stacker, (she’s getting rather confident and likes to steal everything off Lamb). As she is teething quite a lot, she has a habit of putting everything into her mouth. Which obviously can be dangerous if that’s not what its made for. One thing Vicky and I are really impressed with, is the safety mechanism of the stacker. As you can see in the photo, the stick moves from side to side, preventing any accidents if the baby falls on it while upright. Something not all toys have these days.
To us, Sophie la girafe products scream high quality. Everything from the colours and names of the products (we love FanFan), to the packaging and the website is branded beautifully. As I work in fashion (and Vicky works in marketing) we are both a sucker for pretty box and and unique and quirky brand. We are both genuinely grateful to be reviewing for Sophie la Giraffe.

Product Review: OXO tot sippy cup
Little Lamb loves juice. So we have plenty of juice cups in the cupboard, but I’m not 100% happy with them. Leaks and spillages are starting to really annoy me now, so I’m determined to find one that doesn’t leak! I’m sure you’re shouting at the screen, telling me it’s impossible to find a non-spill beaker, and I’m sure you’re right, but I’m on a mission and I won’t stop until I find it!
Well… I think I’ve found it!
While shopping in one of our fave baby shops, JoJo Maman Bebe, I spotted the OXO tot sippy cup
As you can see, this one has a hard plastic teat. Jaxson has used similar cups from other brands, and didn’t get on well with it. He had to suck really hard to get any juice out, and I can imagine this would be quite uncomfortable for his little mouth. However, the cups he has with rubber teats, are now chewed and damaged, and leak terribly. I will add, these were my favourite up until he chewed them. I’m not saying they aren’t worth a try. I just think they are suited to younger babies, with less teeth!
So far I have been really impressed with the OXO tot sippy cup, and so has Jaxson! At first he had to get used to holding it, as it’s a little heavier than his other cups, but as you can see above, he’s mastered it pretty well! What I love about this cup is it’s simplicity. No lid (that I would definitely lose anyway), simple shape, removable handles, and it can go in the dishwasher! It’s recommended for 6+ months, which I agree with, but from my experience, I would recommend a little older, but it depends on how soon your baby masters using a cup.
As I’ve decided the OXO tot sippy cup is my preference, I thought I’d put it to the test with Jaxson. I filled up his old juice cup and this one, and put both out in front of him. He reached out and said ‘juice’, so I gave him his old cup. Nope, this wasn’t what he was reaching for. He pushed the cup away and reached for the OXO tot.
There you go. Decision made. We are sticking with this one!

P.S. So far very minor leaks and spills (Jaxson loves to shake his cup around, and has learned when he does, the liquid comes out, so maybe it’s the baby I need to change and not the cup?!)

Product Review: UPPAbaby VISTA
I spent weeks researching the perfect travel system. It was the first item we bought after our 20 week scan. Talk about a daunting task.
I choose the UPPAbaby Vista because of its great reviews on mumsnet. And we haven’t been disappointed.
As with most travel systems, with the VISTA you have the option of the carrycot, stroller and car seat (the VISTA is compatible with our Maxi-Cosi Pebble).
What makes the VISTA great, is how easy it is to swap between all of these.
The handle height adjusts to two positions, and there’s a huge basket underneath. And I mean huge. Enough to fit baby bag, and at least 4 carrier bags of shopping as well as coats and rain covers.
Carrycot
Marnie used the carrycot (which makes an excellent travel cot as it folds down and you can buy a carrycot stand) from birth up until she was around 3 months old.
She was a summer baby so we had some lovely walks with her. Very easy to attach to the system and take off, even with Marnie still asleep inside.
The carrycot hood comes with a ventilated panel and a sunshade.
Car seat
What I loved about the travel system, was how easy it was to use with the car seat. I could have Marnie from car to system in 20 seconds. I’m still using the car seat in the travel system 8 months on. Just make sure you have the car seat adapters for the VISTA.
This was great when she was newborn, because I didn’t have to disturb her sleeping. As with a lot of babies, she would always fall asleep in the car.
Stroller
I started using the stroller when Marnie was about 5 months old. The stroller can face you, or outwards. (I’ve only ever had Marnie facing me, I’m not quite ready to let her face the world yet…). The stroller has a variety of reclining positions, as well as reclining all the way back.
There’s also the added bonus of the sunshade which is SPF 50.
Again Marnie finds it really comfortable. She often takes her afternoon nap in the stroller when we’re out and about.
The stroller collapses with the travel system. And it just fits in my Ford Focus.
I love the look of my UPPAbaby. It’s understated. It looks smart and elegant, but it’s not in your face. It suits both mum and dad.
My model is the 2011 and is in black. I can see from the website they now do some gorgeous colours, including VISTA drew, which is a stunning burnt orange colour.
Marnie is approaching 8 months old, and I haven’t had to buy another pram/stroller/car seat yet. We’ve used the Vista since day one, and it’s still going strong.

Sunny Sunday :)
Little Lamb and I had a lovely day today. We started off by meeting my sister-in-law and nephew for a picnic in Castle Park. It’s so useful having such a beautiful (and big) park local to us. It has everything you need for an afternoon out with the kids. There’s plenty of grassy area for picnics, or if you’re like my nephew, running around like a mad man! There’s a lovely cafe, a boating pond for the older kids (when I say older, I mean older than Jaxson!) And the most amazing park for the kids to play.
The boys have such a lovely relationship. Indy is always so excited to see Jax, and well, Jax just soaks up everything Indy does. In fact, he’s saying words that Indy repeats a lot. Like ‘guys’, ‘hi’, and even ‘Alex!’ Although it doesn’t sound like that, it’s more like ‘axe’ or ‘lix’ but either will do! We are all really looking forward to when they can run around the park together. It was so cute to see Jaxson getting jealous of Indy running around with us. One day soon (I hope) he will be the one I’m chasing. He’s almost there, just needs the confidence to let go!
As it was so warm today, I thought I would treat myself to an ice cream, and to my delight they sold my fave from when I was a child. A Zapp! YUM.
Now I’m back at work, I make the most of the days we have together. I try to do something with him everyday, even if we just go for a walk. We bought Jaxson a Smart Trike for his birthday, which he really enjoys, and is a quick and easy (and cheap!) way of getting him out of the house.
So that’s exactly what we did after our picnic with Indy. Out came the Smart Trike and off we went. Jaxson is starting to really enjoy going to the park now he’s cruising around. It gets a little repetitive when he wants to walk up the same ramp, then go down the same slide over and over, but so cute to see the smile on his face when I let him do it again. He’s not a massive fan of the swings yet. He hates being trapped, and thats probably what it feels like. High chair, pram, car seat, swing – you name it, he’d rather not be in it! I’ve got a feeling he won’t be in his pram for very long after he’s walking.
Lamb’s favourite part of the day (and mine) is bath time. So we finished off our Sunny Sunday with lots of splashing. The older he gets, the longer he wants to stay in. He has plenty of bath toys, but at the moment he just wants to play with a plastic jug! He’s fascinated by filling it up with water, then pouring it out. You really don’t have to buy a baby any toys, they will pretty much play with anything!
So that was our Sunny Sunday. A fun-filled day doing everything we love, and it didn’t cost a penny! Apart from petrol and lunch of course. What do you get up to on your day’s out? We’d love to hear about it.
