Well I suppose it’s time to jot down a little update on my second pregnancy! It still feels weird writing that. I’m pregnant. Wow.
A while ago I wrote a post on thinking about baby number 2. If you would have asked me earlier in the year I would have been completely against the idea. Not because I didn’t want a second baby, just because I was absolutely not ready.
Fast forward to July and we just decided to go for it. Just like that.
It’s my 30th birthday next year and it dawned on me I would love to have my second baby before then. That only gave me a small window to start trying. Crazy as it sounds, that was one of the reasons I changed my mind about trying for a baby!
As well as that, we realised Lamb needs a sibling. He loves his cousins and loves being around his friends, but as with any toddler, he’s getting a little spoilt and we decided now’s the time to introduce a new member of the family to share with and love.
It was late July when we threw away the protection. I knew nothing would happen for the next month as I had missed ovulation, but we decided to get into the swing of things 😉
Mother Nature arrived in August (as expected) then the trying commenced.
As we approached mid September I realised I had no idea when my period was due. I’m so rubbish at keeping a note of things like that. I wasn’t using a period tracking app. Those things become too stressful. Constantly worrying about tracking intimacy, ovulation, fertility. Blah, blah, blah.
I just got on with things and let nature take it’s course.
Well, it’s seems nature had been hard at work and my period was late. September 13th my friend did a little digging and worked out my last period was on the 10th August, which made me 1 week late.
There you go. Did I even need to do a test? I was a week late!
I had some of those cheap tests at home, so decided to do a couple that night. I’m sure you can all guess the result. Yep, I was pregnant!
My husband was pretty shocked. I mean, we got pregnant in the first month of trying! We honestly thought it would take a few months to conceive. We gave ourselves that time to prepare mentally for the expansion of our family. But, turns out we had thrown ourselves in the deep end.
When we were trying to conceive Lamb it took us 3 months. The first 2 months came back negative. I was using apps to track everything. Constantly checking we had been intimate enough. Too much pressure. The third month I deleted the apps, we went on holiday, I had 1 too many cocktails (or 6 too many) and abracadabra we made a baby!
This was the exact reason I didn’t use any apps this time. Trying for a baby can be stressful enough without constantly checking your phone to see if you are doing it right.
I’m now 13 weeks pregnant. We had our first scan on (remember, remember) the 5th of November. We made a little announcement video which you can view here.
Although trying for a baby was super easy for us this time, I haven’t had an easy first trimester. We’ve had the worst luck one family can have in the last 2 months, which I’m sure you’ve heard me moan about on social media.
Things are looking up, but I want to go back to the 21st of September and expand on what happened to me that day. But I’ll leave that for another blog post…

We were sent the Joie Chrome last year to test for the Mother & Baby Awards and I really liked it. In fact, we’re still using it now! The Chrome is a travel system and can be bought with a car seat, carry cot, plus the standard seat (see photo) which can be parent or world facing. This pram is now sold as the Chrome Plus. What I loved about this pram was the huge storage basket which was easily accessible, it’s super lightweight and easy to push, and the seat sits up nice and tall for Lamb to look around. I would definitely consider buying the car seat and carry cot for this pram to use when we have another baby. Another bonus is you don’t have to remove the seat the fold down like you do with most travel systems. You can read my full review
I do love Cosatto products. It’s so refreshing to have a brand produce such fun and colourful products. We absolutely love our Robot Cotbed which you can read our review on
