Are you and your partner currently on the verge of starting you own little family? If so, then you’re going to want to turn your house into a home as soon as possible. In order to do this, however, you’re going to have to do more than hang up a few photographs and change the colour scheme — you’re going to have to put some real work in and accept the fact that nothing is going to happen over night.
To find out just what it takes to turn your house into the family home you and your partner have always dreamed of, make sure to read on.
Put your own mark on the house
The house that you seek to turn into a home (whether you live there yet or not), will never feel like it is yours if you don’t put your own distinctive mark on it.
Putting your own mark on your house can come in a number of shapes and sizes. It could simply mean rearranging the rooms so that you can make use of them in your own unique way. Or, it could entail you pulling out the moth-eaten carpet that you currently walk upon and replacing it with the golden oak flooring made available at Kens Yard. No matter what lengths you are willing to go to, it’s important that you do something in this instance to make you feel like you actually own your house. Only when you cross this hurdle can you set about turning the building into a family home.
Make it as comfortable as possible
Family homes are spaces in which the adults and kids that live within them can grow and prosper. Such growth and such prospering will never take place in your house, though, if you don’t transform it into a comfortable home.
To make your home far more comfortable, you should:
- Eliminate clutter completely, even if it means throwing out a few treasured yet non-essential belongings
- Add photos, pictures, and portraits of anything that makes your family happy
- Always have fresh flowers at hand
- Allow for as much natural light as possible to shine through the home on a daily basis
- Light a fire on a particularly cold night (just be sure to practice indoor fire safety measures when you do)
- Keeping the house smelling nice at all times
Create special memories within the house
No matter how aesthetically appealing your house may be, if you don’t resolve to make some special memories within it, it’ll never feel like your home. You should, then, not be afraid to host get-togethers within your abode, especially around the holiday season. When you do decide to throw a few parties, however, just make sure that red wine is kept well away from your new cream carpets!
I hope these tips help you build your dream family home!

As a child, your birthday is the most special time of the year. It’s all about you, a chance to have loads of fun and make memories. And as parents we know that our kids only get so many childhood
As the weather brightens up it’s time to look inside our wardrobe at what items can be transitioned into the warmer months. I’ll admit, I don’t have many clothes. Finances don’t allow it, as well as an awkward body shape and fluctuating clothes size.
I ordered the coat in a size 12 and it’s perfect for me. My hips are a size 14 but my upper body is a 8/10/12 (all depending where I shop) so I need something that will cover my bottom half, but won’t sag off my small chest and shoulders.

As this was the first time I’d ordered from Fashion World I had no idea what to expect. Looking at their site I was immediately impressed with the variety of products on offer. Not only that, but they use plus size and curvy models as they specialise in larger sizes, however they start from a size 10!
I often get asked how I juggle everything I do. Business,
Anyway, I’m not here to moan about how hard things can be, well not today anyway. I just wanted to paint the picture of the what it can be really like to try launch and run a business with 2 young children.
For anyone who knows me well, knows my favourite TV show is Friends. I’m not exactly sure how old I was when I first started watching it, but I know I would of been around 11/12. That was at least when I watched it regularly and could understand some of the humour.
The older I get and the more I watch the show, the more I appreciate each character individually. When I was younger, Phoebe was my favourite, and I loved Joey, but the others didn’t seem as funny. Now, however, I see each character in their own unique way and realise they are all hilarious. I’m now a big fan of Ross and his camp expressions.
Not only am I a big fan of friends but I’m also a big coffee drinker. So you can image my delight when I opened the box to find the BIGGEST Central Perk coffee cup. I mean, seriously, this holds so much coffee!
The standard mug says “We Were On A Break”, and you can also get one that says “You His Lobster”. I actually really want this as our wedding cake topper said “he’s her lobster” – how amazing is that! And the travel mug says ” I’d Rather Be Watching Friends”.
To go with my awesome new coffee mugs I was recently sent a
We’ve been using our new coffee machine and I have to admit, I really love it. It did take a few attempts to get the coffee right. For example, using the milk frother is a little tricky so make sure you read the instructions.
If you’re a fan of the Friends series, then no doubt you will love these products as much as I do. You can get the range from
