As you may already know, Lamb & Bear blog turned 1 in January, how quick has the time gone?! I have been offering lots of giveaways to celebrate (more to come!) The current giveaway is to win a GroCompany Grobag which you can enter here.
My first year of blogging has been a whirlwind. When I started with Vicky, it was just our place to vent and share, never did I think I would work with some amazing brands and turn the blog into a profession!
Ok, so I’m not calling myself a professional blogger, but I’ve had a taste of what it could be like and I’m determined to work hard and develop more relationships with brands and PRs.
I love blogging. I’ve gone from a complete novice to buying a ticket to Britmums Live to meet some of the amazing bloggers I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know through the world of social media!
The blogging world is so supportive. Bloggers look out for each other: there is no competitiveness. I think that’s what’s kept me going. Thank you to all of you who have commented, supported and shared throughout my first year off blogging.
With Britmums Live soon approaching I felt it was time to revamp the blog. The first theme we had was a free wordpress theme, and it did the job while we had it. However after such a successful first year working with brands and PRs, I felt it was time to invest a little into the website sand create a more professional looking space.
I found a beautiful theme that was amazing value and have spent this week giving the blog a make over. This is the first time I have ever installed a theme to wordpress, and I have to admit it’s not easy! But after hours of trial and error with plugins and what not I am finally happy with the look of the blog. Ok, so there are still tweaks to make here and there, and I seemed to have found an addiction for plugins, but it is a huge improvement and I’m so excited for you all to see!
I am developing the ‘Lamb & Bear’ brand a little further with the help go Grandpop Lamb and will soon have a new logo, business card, media pack etc but that is still a working progress.
I hope you like the new Lamb & Bear blog, and would love to know your thoughts! If there’s anything you spot that needs changing or could be improved, please let me know! It’s difficult to spot when you’ve been looking at it for so long!

It seems a lot of bloggers we follow are announcing their second pregnancies, how exciting! With that in mind, I thought I should share this post we wrote a while ago about finding out the sex of your baby.
To find out, or not to find out? That is the question.
We have two different stories to tell, both exciting and both equally as special. Enjoy.
Vicky’s story
We were very much ‘on the fence’ with finding out.
I remember walking around Next at 18 weeks pregnant, thinking how much easier it would be to find out the sex of the baby. I’m a natural organiser, so it would have made perfect sense to find out.
Even on the drive to our 20 week scan, we were still unsure. So we came up with a little plan…
Armed with a piece of plain paper and an envelope, we asked the ultrasound technician to write down the sex of the baby and seal it away.
We left our 20 week scan with our fuzzy ultrasound photo, and our white envelope. I was absolutely buzzing.
My theory was, if we really wanted to find out, then we would look. The 20 week scan is only half way, so if we decided further down the line to find out then we could.
But, you know what? We never got the urge to look, not one bit. I loved not knowing. As my bump grew, all I cared about was my little baby growing inside me. I didn’t need to know whether they were a boy or a girl. That would be my surprise at the end.
I had a 3 day labour. It was pretty tiring, but that unknown made me work that little bit harder.
There aren’t many happy surprises left in life, but this was one. That moment when Matt told me through teary eyes that we had a little girl, will be the best moment of my life. It still brings a lump to my throat.
Then you have the magical moments of telling all your family and friends. Yep, bring on more lumpy throats.
I wouldn’t swap any of these moments for the world.
Alex’s story
Anyone who knows me, knows I’m pretty impatient. In fact very impatient. So no surprise, I found out the sex of our baby at the 20 week scan. Deep down, I knew I was having a boy, call it mothers intuition, but I was so sure.
As much as I wanted to know, I would only find out if Joe wanted to too. I strongly believe it should be the decision of both parents. As much as one wants to know, if the other doesn’t they should respect that. Luckily for me Joe couldn’t wait to find out!
Holding hands and walking in silence, we were both as nervous as each other. This was it. The moment had finally arrived, was beansprout pink or blue? Days had been spent disagreeing over names, struggling to find ones we liked, at least now we could eliminate 50% of them!
While we were waiting for the scan, Joe turned to me asked what I thought we were having. After a minute of mumbling ‘I want a boy, but it could be a girl, blah, blah’, I plucked up the courage to say ‘boy’. (I hate being wrong, so really didn’t want to make a final decision). He turned to me and said ‘so do I’. We smiled at each other. I don’t know why, but it’s like we already knew.
Well, we were right! On that tiny screen was our beautiful baby boy. Our little blue beansprout.
A lot of people said to me ‘don’t you want a surprise?’ I always replied with ‘it’s a surprise either way’. Whether you find out at the scan or wait until the baby is born, it’s a surprise, just as special, and just as emotional.
So if you are undecided about finding out the sex, why not try Vicky’s idea and seal it in an envelope? Or if, you really want to know then go for it! Knowing the sex of my baby allowed me to bond with the little boy growing in my belly. (And also meant daddy had to redecorate the spare room to be more suited for a boy! Pale pink just wasn’t acceptable for my little blue beansprout!)
Oh, and did I mention, I told Vicky she was having a girl all along?! I love being right 😉

This year singer and mother Rachel Stevens is helping promote the ‘Dettol Baby Blanket Campaign’ in association with SPARKS, a UK children’s medical research charity.
This video explains a little more…
Little Lamb has had plenty of blankets over the past 2 years, some of which have already been donated to charity. I’m sure there are plenty of families with a spare blanket or two who could donate to such an amazing cause. It breaks my heart to think of babies without a warm and snuggly blanket. It’s something we all take for granted, but is something we all use for our babies from birth
If you would like to donate a blanket please do so as soon as possible as the campaign ends this Friday (13th). There’s still time to send!
Please send your blankets to the following address:
FREEPOST RTKJ-YSGS-SSHR
Dettol Baby Blanket Donation
c/o Spink
Balcombe Place Stables
Haywards Heath

Once collected, Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser will remove any bacteria by ensuring the baby blankets are hygienically washed before being re-distributed to families in need. Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser has also pledged to donate £1 to Sparks for every blanket collected to raise much needed funds for UK families who are affected by serious illness or disability.
If you have time between now and Friday please send any unwanted baby blankets to help support this amazing campaign.

I always struggle when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts for Daddy Lamb. He never wants anything, he doesn’t like the same scents as me, and well, is no help at all with a gift list. So I’ll just have to guess and hope!
I’ve had a look around online and found a few last minute gift ideas for that handsome guy in your life. With next day delivery available on most of these items, there’s still plenty of time to buy something.

1. Novelty underwear is always a quick and easy gift for him. I found these on asos.com. I also find supermarkets really good for novelty underwear and pyjamas etc, so might be worth popping to your local store.
2. There are some really nice watches available on asos.com at the moment. I’ve got a thing about black watches for guys, and I love this one with rose gold detailing. They look fab and are really good value. You can see the selection here.
Asos also offer a huge selection of branded watches, so if you want to splurge a little then there’s still time to treat your man to something a little special.
3. Every guy needs a wallet. Every guy most likely needs a new wallet. I don’t know about your other half, but Daddy Lamb likes to use his wallet until it has holes in it (he’s the same with his shoes) and it really frustrates me! I’m sure he will appreciate one like this Ted Baker leather wallet and get rid of the old tatty one!
4. Daddy Lamb loves a cocktail, and he’s loves making random mixes of different flavours. So what better gift to buy him for Valentines than this quirky bartender book! I may regret buying this when he starts making a different cocktail every night…
I suppose if he’s making them for me I can’t really complain… 😉

5. This is one of my favourite gift ideas, and as you can see it’s something I’ve bought before! This is a giant personalised cookie from Millie’s Cookies. I got this as a wedding present for Daddy Lamb and gave it to him on the morning of our wedding (well the best man gave it to him). Luckily for me he didn’t have time to eat it so we took it away on our mini moon and ate it together! They are absolutely delicious and cost around £20.
7. A night out is always a good present, especially if you have young children at home and don’t get to go our much. Why not treat him to cinema and restaurant vouchers?
8. Aftershave is an obvious choice, but like us girls, everyone loves receiving their favourite scent for a present. I particularly like Only The Brave by Diesel of for guys.
If you’re unsure what to buy, take a look at the ones with the best reviews and go from there.
I hope this list has helped you with some last minute valentines gift inspiration. Remember, with next day delivery there’s no excuse! 😉
