Outfit
I was so excited about the wedding. I got to dress up!! It is very rare that Joe and I get a day and night together without Lamb. Joe’s parents were kind enough to babysit for the weekend so we could enjoy ourselves.
I planned my outfit well in advance. By Christmas last year I had lost all of my baby weight by attending Weight Watchers. 2 and a half stone to be exact. So I was really excited to show my new figure off (something I rarely want to do). I am very pear shaped, so never want to wear fitted dresses, but managed to find this winner in H&M. I absoultely love it, and love how it fits my curves. I actually felt sexy for once! I teamed the dress with my absolute fave jacket from Zara. You might have seen this on TV or in the press. A lot of celebs bought this jacket. It will never grow old. Who doesn’t want a neon yellow blazer?! My shoes are from Nine West. These were a bargain in the sale, so I couldn’t resist. Jewelry was kept to a minimum. The outfit was bold enough without adding too much bling. So I wore my engagement ring and Pandora Ring and some lovely little gold Pilgrim stud earrings.
I have a few more weddings to attend this year, so have a lot of window shopping to do, to improve on this look!
Make-up
As I mentioned in the previous post, I went to my local MAC counter to have my make up done. They offer an amazing deal. You pay £30 for a 1 hour consultation and make over. You are then given £30 to spend on products! Bargain! (Not too much of a bargain if you end up spending and extra £25, but it’s worth it!)
The make-up artist was lovely. She explained everything she was using and how she was applying. You definitely learn something at these consultations.
My mum taught me a little about applying make-up, but I definitely picked up some great tips from Laura at MAC. Obviously not everything works for everyone, face shapes and skin tones/types all have an impact on application. What works for me may not work for you, but my fave tip was to use a different concealer under your eyes, to on your blemishes. As a new mum, I have gained some lovely bags under my eyes and a few extra wrinkles (grrrr), so to be told I should use a highlighting concealer under my eyes, and something stronger on my chin (my problem area) is a great tip. It really did look amazing.
I was so impressed with my make over I ended up spending a little more that the £30 you get in credit. However, it’s totally worth it. I love all of the products I bought. In particular the concealer. Which I use all day long.
Here is what I bought…
The Cremesheen lipstick in ‘coral bliss’ is lovely. Perfect for everyday use, and when applied with a lip liner becomes much more of a statement for a special occasion or night out (this is how mine was applied for the wedding). As I suffer with breakouts, I like to use an intense foundation, to cover my blemishes. The Studio Fix foundation and Studio Finish concealer is perfect for this. I highly recommend these if you are looking for a flawless coverage. To finish the look, I always like to wear false lashes. As I’ve said in previous posts, I often have lash extensions, but when i’m on a budget will go for standard falsies. Being blonde means I also have blond eyelashes, so it takes a lot of mascara to build up a long looking lash. The MAC ones were perfect. They gave me a natural but full looking extension, without being too obvious.
The Final Look
I have to admit, we both scrubbed up pretty well considering we had about 6 hours sleep the night before! (Yep, Jaxson still wakes in the night. He slept through for sooooooo long, but not anymore. Sad face.) For our next occasion, I will definitely be booking a consultation at MAC, I felt amazing!
What are your top beauty tips? Are you also a fan of MAC products?
