Yep, you read it, today is the 2 month countdown until our wedding!
It’s getting silly now, the months are just disappearing before my eyes! Feels like only yesterday I wrote the 3 month countdown post. *Palms are getting a little sweaty*.
So what has happened in the last month? Quite a lot…
Firstly, we have finally decided what we will be saying during the ceremony. We are having a civil ceremony, so we can keep things quite simple, which is fine by us! The easier it is to say the better! We don’t want any readings so the ceremony will only be around 30 minutes long. This is ideal for us, as there will be a handful of children there to keep occupied.
We just realised the vows and music need to be sent off to the registrar no later than 8 weeks before the wedding, which is today, and we have yet to post them… oops. These will be sent asap of course.
Picking the music for the ceremony has been quite difficult. We decided on the song to walk out to ages ago. Lamb loves it, both Grandad’s love it, and it features on one of Lambs favourite films… Shark Tale! Perfect! Joe has picked the song I will be walking in to, it’s a little obvious (no, not the wedding march), but also subtle and not too well known. It feels right, so we are just going with it! We then have to pick 2 songs to be playing while we are signing the register. One is definitely going to be ‘Dream a Little Dream’ by Robbie Williams and Lily Allen. I love Robbie and I love Lily. I think this is as close to Take That as I will get. Joe is putting his foot down when it comes to Take That (don’t worry, I’ll sneak them in somewhere 😉 ).
Last night we visited our venue for our wedding meal taster evening. When I say we, I mean myself and my maid of honour Justine! Joe works nights and they only have the taster evenings on the nights he works so unfortunately he couldn’t come and try the food. To be fair, he’s like a human dustbin, so they could serve him beans on toast and he would be happy!
The meal was amazing. It gave me butterflies knowing my guests would be eating such delicious food!
Here is a little preview of what they can expect…
If you have read my recent wedding posts you will know we ordered our wedding bands last week. Another task ticked off the list! You can read a little more about buying our rings here. I have gone for white gold to match my engagement ring, however Joe has opted for palladium. It’s slightly more expensive, however does’t need coating like gold so will be more durable and long lasting.
Another big task ticked off the list is our wedding favours. I have put in an order for them today and I’m waiting to hear back confirming the order has gone through. I’ve got my fingers crossed as I’m really excited with our chosen favour. But as the wedding is only 2 months away, i’m worried I’ve ordered too late. Sorry, but I won’t be giving anything away just yet. You will have to wait until after the wedding to find out what they are!
Finally, I’ve been ordering bits for our table decorations. I’ve been putting off ordering too soon as we don’t have much space to store things. I’ve picked up a few bags of table confetti etc but nothing too big. I’m hiring the vases from my friends mum, and the rest I will be doing myself. I could easily buy the vases from The Range (really good value there), but the hassle of transporting 10 vases to and from the venue isn’t worth it.
The flowers will be bought from a local wholesaler. I highly recommend doing this. You save so much money. Florists are so expensive. Yes, they do an amazing job, but I can’t justify spending £600 on flowers. My close friend is really good at floristry and is helping out loads with the table decorations and bouquets etc. Lucky I know!
I think that’s about it for this update. I’d like to apologise for the lack of photos, but I’d like to keep some things a surprise, and I know a lot of my guests will read this at some point!
All I will say is expect subtle glamour with a touch of sparkle. 😉
